Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

A: When you have an idea, get it down and let it flow.

Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

A: My promise is that I will provide you with basslines that you will be excited about, and will help make your songs groove!

Q: What do you like most about your job?

A: Creating good basslines that groove within the music.

Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

A: It's just a hobbie isn't it.

Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

A: The more information I have, in what you require for the songs, the easier it will be to get the exact basslines you want.

Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

A: I've been playing for over thirty years now. Started straight out of school with original bands, then I got a Blues Brothers tribute gig and started doing more tribute and covers bands from there. In 2014, I joined Arena, a progressive band from England, and have recorded three studio and three live albums to date. In that time I have also recorded a number of other signed and unsigned artists' albums.

Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

A: Would love to work with Jake E Lee, I love his style and attack, and I find many of his songs great to play to.

Q: What's your strongest skill?

A: Listening to the songs, feel what is required and provide basslines that will make the songs the best they can be.

Q: What do you bring to a song?

A: I can bring energy and a spark to the rhythm section. Keep it simple, or groove or complex, depending on what you, the client would like.

Q: What are you working on at the moment?

A: Recently recorded bass for U.S. artist David Horn on two of his albums, both due out later this year.

Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

A: Generally Progressive rock, rock and pop takes up the most of my work to date.

Q: What's your typical work process?

A: It tends to be first a discussion with the client of what they are after, feel, sound etc. Then listen to what has been given, put some rough ideas down and see what they like, once they have agreed on what they hear, I'll record the main bass track andsend it to the client as desired.

Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

A: It's a simple setup, Bass into a Focusrite Scarlett to Logic. I have numerous effects to use if needed in pedals and within Logic, but I tend to keep the signal as clean as possible.

Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

A: My influences are bands like Muse, Badlands, Duran Duran, Chic, Iron Maiden, Extreme, Queensryche, Nik Kershaw, John Mayer, Katie Melua, Marcus Miller. List could go on and on! Bass players like John Taylor, Billy Sheehan, Greg Chaisson, Marcus Miller, Victor Wooten, Steve Harris just to name a few.

Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

A: The most common is progressive rock and rock style music.
