Interview with fkngroove
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: I am finishing the production and mixing of the album of an upcoming urban music singer, and beginning to produce and record an EP for a rock soloist.
Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?
A: I'm new on SoundBetter, but soon I'll be able to refer colleagues.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: You have to know that if your music exceeds my knowledge and experience, I will be the first to tell you to find another professional.
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: I want the music to speak for itself. I ask everything related to the song, so that I can better interpret my role
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I play and study drums since 1994. I record since 2019 and got the title of music producer in 2022
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Snare drum audio is directly proportional to the tempo of the song. Slow Low Tune, Fast High Tune This will make your mix and track sound more glue.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: Rock, Pop, Latin Pop, Urban, Funk, Soul, R&B and others.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: I have listened and listen to a lot of music, of many styles and genres. I think it's my strength to contribute to a song.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: The more I get involved in the song, the more I can contribute. Once we make contact, I needed to hear the reference or tell me what you're looking for in the song. Depending on the service you request, we can make revisions of what was recorded or mixed. Your song will be sensational!
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: Recording studio: DW collectors (10,12,13,14,16,22) / DW Jazz Series (13,16,18,24) More than 10 professional snares (DW, Ludwig, Grestch, C&C) Audio gear: API Audio, Daking Audio, Warm Audio, Universal Audio, Audio Technica, Shure, Beyerdynamic, Mogami, and others) Mixing Studio: Solid State Logic / Universal Audio / Genelec / API Audio / JDK Audio / Telefunken
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: Wow, there are a lot! If I have to name the most influential for me are: Steve Gadd (drums) Jeff Porcaro (drums) Scott Williamson (drums) Rob Cavallo (producer) Joe Baldridge (engineer)
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: As a session drummer, my goal is to record what the song is looking for, and to be inspired by the reference track, the Artist or the producer of the project. I can also contribute ideas in case the Artist does not work with a music producer. If you're looking for me to mix your song, my focus will be on the song and the Artist's influences.
