Versatile vocalist, keys player and songwriter. I can provide an array of lead and multi-track backing vocals, digital piano (grand or upright), Wurlitzer and Hammond B3 Organ.
I've been a full-time musician since 2015, playing around the world as both a session musician (keys and backing vocals) as well as fronting my own 5-piece Country Blues and Americana band, 'Eddy Smith & The 507'.
Specialising in Blues, Country, Rock, Soul and all things Americana, I've been described as one of the major male vocalists on the circuit. With an impressive vocal range, I am able to perform multi-track backing vocals that can (if requested) sound reminiscent of a gospel choir, performing with much authenticity a two, three, four or more part harmony. My vocal harmony style has been compared to that of The Eagles, Crosby, Stills and Nash, while my lead vocal is said to be reminiscent of a young Joe Cocker.
As well as vocals, I am also an accomplished keys player with the facilities and the abilities to record digital piano, electric piano and Hammond B3 Organ. My playing style has been compared to that of Ray Charles, Dr John, Billy Joel, Jerry Lee Lewis and Norah Jones among other pioneering pianists and keys players.

Eddy did an incredible job on my project. I needed some gritty vocals for a demo song I've been working on, and he knocked it out of the park! He's got a great tone and paired it with fantastic creativity. Will definitely work with him again!

Eddy Smith is worth every penny! He brings his individual artistry to every song and produces a project exactly as you imagined. His sounds are clean and warm, his orchestration and arrangements always tasteful, and his vocals are pure Americana Soul. To top it all off Eddy is a sweetheart of a person and truly works to make sure that the customer is satisfied. Truth be told...I am sad that this (my first) project with Eddy has ended, and I am lucky to have had access to his talent.

Working with Eddy was great! He provided vocals on a track I produced for a client. Very communicative about what would be provided, timely, and nailed the performance. Would recommend!

Interview with Eddy Smith
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: It has to be the latest album by my band and I. I was the main songwriter, the lead vocalist and keys player. I was also the producer and mix engineer. Incredibly proud of the body of work we have produced and I'm excited to release it at the end of September.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: That I will always give 100% to each and every project and I will work until the client is completely satisfied.
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Be specific about your needs for the project, send artist and/or track references and communicate regularly with feedback if needed.
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I've been singing, playing and writing since the age of 14, I became a full-time musician in 2015 at the age of 22. As well as fronting my own band, touring mostly around the UK, I'm also a session musician that enjoys playing for other artists, either in the studio or in a live band.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: Americana, Blues, Country, Soul, Rock.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: My ability to deliver a high quality, professional performance (lead, backing vocals or keys) in a timely fashion. I am also a songwriter and have released two albums of my own with my band 'Eddy Smith & The 507.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: Clients are often drawn to my raspy vocal, reminiscent of Joe Cocker. Also my ability to (when permitted) take modest artistic license and add subtle flourishes, either vocally or on the keys that further compliment the track.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: For vocals, I have a selection of high quality condenser and dynamic microphones. From a Rhode NT2 to a Shure SM7B. I choose which microphones to use depending on the project requirements. For keys, I own a Nord Electro 4D with the latest sample downloads for authentic piano, Wurlitzer and Hammond B3 organ sounds. I also own a Roland RD700GX which is renowned for it's acoustic piano samples. This all goes through my Focusrite 18i20 interface. With it's high quality pre-amps, little to no EQ / editing is required in the mixing process as the recordings always come out sounding extremely natural and true to the source.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: Joe Cocker, Otis Redding, Sam Cooke, Bonnie Raitt, Aretha Franklin, Van Morrison, The Eagles, Marcus King, The Teskey Brothers, Nathanial Rateliff & The Night Sweats, Lukas Nelson, John Moreland... And many, many more.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: Lead vocal recording for clients looking for a soulful, raspy male voice. Along with lead vocals, I'm also often hired for my ability to arrange and record multi-layered vocal harmonies. I also offer my services as a keys player, Acoustic Piano, Electric Piano and Organ.
