I love what I do. I´ve been recording drums and producing music almost all my life. I play with passion and love, but most importantly, I play for the song. I love music, and I take the time so that each recording gets exactly the sound and feeling it needs.

Endorse Emmanuel CauvetEmma is definitely the musician to work with, super professional, talented, and creative. I have been working with Emma for many years on recordings and/or productions and his performance is always above average. His immense career supports it. Thank you Emma for your musicality and friendship.
Hit the green button and start working with him. What can I say? Emmanuel is an institution in South America. He’s toured and recorded drums for some of my musical heroes. Fito Páez, Gustavo Cerati, just to name a few. Also I’ve had the pleasure of having him track on my own record and multiple productions I’ve done for various artists in the US. Besides his exquisite musical taste and outstanding groove, Emma is in it for the music and the pure love of creating music. I can’t recommend him enough. He is also a great tracking engineer and is able to get some unique tones, which make my work much easier during the mixing process.
Great sound, great gear and quick turn around. He nailed exactly the sound we needed for the song, and also made some very cool recommendations. We will definetely work together again!
Interview with Emmanuel Cauvet
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: I have many projects that I have worked throughout the years that I am proud of. I was able to work with great artists such as Stanley Clarke, Shakira, Gustavo Cerati, Fito Paez, Dante Spinetta and many others. I am proud of all of my work with them. But, if I had to choose one, it would be to work with Gustavo Cerati in his album "Ahí Vamos".
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: Several projects: recording, production and mixing, and live shows.
Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?
A: Yes. Federico Palmolella.
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: Analog all the way! History of music explains it why.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: I will deliver.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: I don´t see it as a job, I think it´s a way of living.
Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?
A: What gear I use.
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: That drummers make "noise". We don´t make noise: we give rythm to life.
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: What do you want to achieve with this project?
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Be open to new possibilities.
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: My drums, MacBook Pro, midi controller, Daw and one ribbon mic. Then, I would send for help and bring my other ribbon mic, my girlfriend, and stay living happily in the desert island!
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I´ve been doing this for over 40 years. I started playing the drums with pillows in my bedroom, until I could afford my own drums. Since then, I have never stopped playing music. I´ve worked with the best in my country and all over the world. I can´t complain! I´ve been living my life doing what I love.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: Groove master!
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: I would have loved to work with Prince, and of course, Sir Paul McCartney.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Use the analog mixing console to run all the channels of the song in order to mix it.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: R&B, Soul, Funk, Rock, World music, Jazz, Latin, Hip Hop.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: Groove and sound!
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: Expertise, professionalism, passion and love.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: Firstly, I discuss with the client what is their need and what they want to achieve with the song or project. We talk about tunes, arrangements, and feelings or sensations. Once we understand and agree on the process, I begin the work and usually I send a wav. to the client in order to check if everything is as we discussed. Once the client approves, I send the stems.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I have a recording studio of my own, where I record my drums (DW, Ludwig and Slingerland) and other instruments. To obtain a unique sound, I mix and record with an analog vintage Yamaha M916 16 channel console mixer and an 8 channel Teac 5. My monitors are Yamaha NC10 and my mics are Coles ribbon mics, Fathead Cascade ribbon mics, AKG, Shure, Audio Technica and Aston. I ran all the music in Protools and Logic Pro with a MacBook Pro and Apogee Ensamble.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: Quincy Jones, Paul McCartney, Prince, Bruce Swedien.
