Interview with FADE

  1. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  2. A: I've been playing guitar since I was around 3 years old, had lessons for a long time, played in a band and then started moving into music production and also livesound. From there, I played some of the biggest festivals throughout europe and learned a lot about music on that journey. I'm currently shifting my full focus towards studio work, which I've already been doing for over 6 years.

  3. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  4. A: Mike Dean, Jaycen Joshua, Finneas

  5. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  6. A: Mostly production, also a lot of mixing & mastering.

  7. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  8. A: Laptop, Microphone, Guitar, Power Generator, Starlink

  9. Q: How would you describe your style?

  10. A: My style is very much straight to the point, keeping it simple & fun. I think that's the most important thing when doing pop music.

  11. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  12. A: Nail the emotion.

  13. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  14. A: I usually work on a lot of Pop - Dermot Kennedy, Tate McRae and Justin Bieber are common references for songs I work on. I also love to work on HipHop and I'm currently working with a lot of german urban-rap artists.

  15. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  16. A: Getting the best out of the artist I'm working with. (see answer to next question)

  17. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  18. A: If you hire me as a producer I see my role as the catalyst in the room. Whatever the artist already has written or is currently writing - I'll try to give them as much safe space as they need to get their unfiltered ideas out. I'm listening to every idea the artist is throwing and me and try to sort out the best parts. You can ask a lot of the artists I'm working with that I'm very good at pointing the artist towards the direction where he really wants to go, sometimes the artist just needs a little hint that that's actually where he wanted to go in the first place.
