I really like to work with Balazs, because if there are uncertain parts in my song, he touches it with a very good sense, so that the end result is pleasant. He has a rich taste in music and has many years of experience. I wholeheartedly recommend his work!

Interview with Balazs Eri

  1. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  2. A: I have an Imac (late 2019). I am using Logic Pro X as my DAW. For recordings I have a Focusrite Scarlett 18i20. For listening back I use JBL speakers, Sennheiser and VOX/Audio-technica headphones

  3. Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?

  4. A: My band's first LP: New Snake Revival - AbsinthE. It was a blind jump to the fog. But it became a historical moment, at least in my life :D

  5. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  6. A: Sometimes analog works mysterious ways

  7. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  8. A: I will create a listenable, good mix

  9. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  10. A: I can listen to new, exciting music, all over the world.

  11. Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

  12. A: Everyone thinks I'm a DJ, when I tell them I am mixing songs :D

  13. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  14. A: How can I help you? :)

  15. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  16. A: Ask for songs he/she worked on. Listen to them, and decide.

  17. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  18. A: An axe, a shovel, a pan, a blanket, and suncream. Skin cancer is serious

  19. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  20. A: From roadie, to bass player, to mixing engineer. I always recorded my song ideas, I tried to make it sound good. So I started to learn. And after my own band wrote some tunes, we don't have enough money to go to any studios. So we do it for ourselves. We recorded the songs, and then I mixed them. It has been almost a decade now.

  21. Q: How would you describe your style?

  22. A: Naturalistic

  23. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  24. A: It's a hard one. I'd like to work with many and different as possible. It is good for my career, my knowledge and I can help the new comers, with the pros tips and tricks

  25. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  26. A: Listen to your ears, search your feelings. Don't listen to others. Everyone is different, everyone hears something different, and maybe that little thing will be the rocketsauce for your career.

  27. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  28. A: I'd like to work on songs, which have live instruments.

  29. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  30. A: As a bass player too, I really focus on the bass tracks. Sometimes these tracks save the song :))

  31. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  32. A: I think, I'll bring equality to the song. Every musician, who played on the song, need to be satisfied. There is a point in space and time, where all the instruments can be heard.

  33. Q: What's your typical work process?

  34. A: After I receive the tracks, I listen to them together. Than individually. I often start the mixing process with the drums. We need a solid ground to our ears. After that the bass, the guitars, pianos etc., finally the vocals. Then I rest my ears for a day, to hear out any glitches. If nothing else bothers me, the mix is ready. Time for master.

  35. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  36. A: Warren Huart and Kristian Kohlmannslehner from the music production industry. Musicans? All of them. Everyone is special in his/her own way,

  37. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  38. A: I receive the pre-recorded tracks from the artists, after that we share some infos about the sound and style. I mix, than master the song, and after a few reviews, we fine-tune it.
