Ian McKenna on SoundBetter

Sound designer and musician specializing in experimental audio manipulation and synthesis to create unique and original high-definition sound. Contracted by Meow Wolf as a sound designer for their Denver installation. 10 years of experience in Ableton Live.

For nearly 10 years I created and performed original experimental EDM around the United States under the name Craftal. I am fascinated with the seemingly limitless sonic potential of digital audio to create things that nobody has heard before, and stimulate the ear in precise & novel ways - without sacrificing a pleasant listening experience. I am known for my unique, high-definition sound design and clean, precise mixdowns. In 2022 I played to the biggest crowd of my career at Tipper n' Friends Festival in Suwannee Music Park, for over 4000 people (see my display photo!).

In 2019, I applied to be one of the contributing artists in Meow Wolf's Denver installation, and made it through the 6-month-long application process over hundreds of other artists. I was contracted to provide an original ambient soundscape for one of the rooms, utilizing all original sounds. In the first 9 months since their 2021 opening, they passed their 1 millionth visitor.

I am also a music production and sound design tutor, specializing in Ableton Live and synthesis instruction.
