Experienced audio specialist and musician for pop, rock and indie, as well as a guitarist in pop-funk-indie-disco-glam-rock band.
I have been working in music for 20+ years, with the last 15 years spent devoted to the technical side of music, whether that is music production, recording engineering, mixing, mastering, writing, session musician or editing and tuning.
I have worked on projects featuring the likes of Mike Shipley (Def Leppard, The Cars, Shania Twain, Nickelback), Nathan Watts (Stevie Wonder, Diana Ross), Elliott RandallI (Steely Dan, Kate Bush), Bruce Gowdy (Unruly Child, World Trade) and a host of more local and national projects, too. My work has been synced to radio, TV and film, and have experience mixing and editing to picture, as well as more straight ahead music project.
I am a music lover, with a keen ear for massive rock records like Def Leppard's Hysteria, AC/DC's Back in Black and Guns 'N Roses Appetite for Destruction, though love working on EDM-tinged and Singer-Songwriter projects just as much.
I like to develop a relationship with my clients, making sure I'm a good fit to the client, before agreeing to a project. My services range from mixing and mastering, to session work as a guitarist and bass player, to drum programming, drum editing and vocal tuning. I just LOVE working on new music.

Endorse Jamie DonnellyI've had the pleasure of working with Jamie on numerous projects ranging from simply mixing and mastering to the co-production of a six track electro pop EP. He brings boundless enthusiasm and thoughtful ideas at all stages of development, and is happy to work collaboratively and push boundaries as much or as little as is required. As a vocalist I was excited to work closely with the producer and he made the entire in-studio recording process fun, easy and supportive. The end results are always incredible - polished, sharp, radio-ready, and absolutely gorgeous. Wholeheartedly recommended!
I have worked with Jamie since 2015 and is my go to producer.
As a singer/songwriter I tend to write a song, send it to Jamie to see what he thinks and then set about recording it with him.
A session always starts with a basic vocal/guitar demo which morphs into whatever I want due to his amazing production skills ( did I mention he is a fabulous multi-instrumentalist? ).
We occasionally differ in how we think a track should progress, but unlike other producers I have worked with, Jamie is always happy to try something different.
I cannot recommend him enough. Top guy!I have had the privilege of working with Jamie on a number of recording sessions and each time has been an outstanding experience. Jamie's professionalism, attention to detail, and expertise never cease to impress me. The quality of the recordings has always been superb and exceeded my expectations.
Jamie has a unique talent of creating a comfortable and relaxed atmosphere in the studio, which allows me to focus on my playing and produce my best performance.
Jamie’s always been a go to for me and my band as he’s a class producer and always a gem to work with! He really has an ear for music production and is always able to add his own flavour to a track, no matter what the style or genre is, to come up with the best possible version. He’s able to match the mood and sound of any track perfectly and I can’t wait to work with him again soon ❤️
Interview with Jamie Donnelly
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: Serving the client. However, I do have a penchant for making things sound BIG.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: Rock, Indie, Pop
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: I listen to music like a fan, but work on it like a technician. Being able to split my mind from "how is this technically" to "how would a person hearing this in the supermarket react" is a strong skill to have.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: Another infectious person to the creation process.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: Mutt Lange and Mike Shipley are the reason I got so interested in the technical side of audio. The first time I heard Def Leppard's "Hysteria" it was clear that there was more than just the band to that record. From that day on I've strived to make music sound as big and exciting, and was fortunate enough to work on a project that featured my work, and Mike Shipley's (Mercedes Ganon's Pay the Toll)
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: The most common work I do for clients is for clients who want to write a song, but don't have the tools to do so outside of a vocal idea, or a guitar part. In those instances I become "the band" for the client, programming drums, synthesisers, and playing a myriad of other instruments/performing backing vocal arrangements to take an idea to a finished piece. I also do a lot of remote mastering work, for when a second set of ears is required, and remote mixing, to help get that fresh perspective.
