Interview with Jeremi Hough
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: The Transition E.P by Philmont. It was my first professional recording experience and I'm incredibly proud of the sounds and drum parts we came up with for that project.
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: Dialing in new drum sounds in the studio, a few singer songwriter projects that need a little percussion here and there.
Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?
A: Dango Cellan
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: That the finished product will be exactly what the want, period.
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I dropped out of high school at the age of 17 to begin touring the country as a drummer. I toured the world for 10 years with various artists in the CCM industry. Now a father of two, I no longer tour, but am still active in the studio as well as several churches in the Charleston area.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: I find inspiration from many different styles of music and artists. From a production stand-point, Butch Walker is a big influence. His solo work has an incredible grit and vibe, but he can adjust his work to whatever artist he's working with to fit their needs. As a drummer I've always been inspired but drummers who keep it solid and tight, not overly flashly. Guys like Tucker Rule, Tommy Lee, Dave Grohl, Rich Redmond, etc... but am always inspired by heavy metal guys like Matt Greiner, Luke Holland, and so on.
