Interview with Lost Prxphet
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: Currently, I am continuing to network with artists to collaborate with them but I am definitely being more selective as far as who I work with because I want to be able to work with individuals that show promise and finding those individiuals can be difficult. I want to be able to work with individuals who aren't just in it to be in it but because they love it and have a passion for it.
Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?
A: Tony Gaines! He's a skilled music producer and engineer that shows a lot of promise. We have spoken about working with each other but our busy schedules prevent that. The time will come.
Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?
A: My age! Though I have been working in music and entertainment for a long time, I'm only in my early 20s. There's definitely some shock value to when clients find out about how knowledgable and skilled I am while still being fairly young.
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: I would definitely bring my laptop, two monitor, my DJ controller and an interface. I would be able to do everything I need to do while being surrounded by the view of the island. I just hope there's nothing that can endanger me while I'm there!
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: Honestly, there are so many artists I would like to work with because I feel like they would all bring something different to the table. If I could pick one artist, it would have to be TYuS. He's a Portland-based R&B singer that I have been a fan of since high school and I really enjoy that he's incorporating a modern take on 90s and early 2000s R&B production.
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I have been doing music and entertainment for over a decade where I have spent most of time primarily working on deejaying, music production/engineering, and podcasts/video editing but within the last three years, I have been able to incorporate other skill sets into my reportoire.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: My typical work process consists of taking my time to ensure there is good, quality sounding production and mixes. My mood also plays a factor into my performance because if I am not in a good headspace then I will not work on the project. I am an advocate for putting my best foot forward when it comes to my work, whether that be for myself or others. If I want my own work to be quality, then my clients should receive quality work out of me.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: Some music industry professionals that inspire me are Pharrell Williams, Timbaland, and Tyler, the Creator because I love how they actually take their time to build a track. They ensure that the track sounds complete whether that be from the mix to the arrangement, their tracks sound full.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: Most of my work for clients have consisted of music production, deejaying, and promotions of their work. Though those have been my most common requests, I have also done music/audio engineering and podcasts/video editing.
