It took me months to find my way to Germán for a timpani track, and it was worth it! His timing is PERFECT and the tracks will not need any editing. He also understood exactly what we wanted for the song. It's wonderful to find someone who is genuinely excited about taking part in your art, and can add just what it needs in the right places. Thank you!

Germán reacted within minutes of my request. He responded very professional with asking the right questions.
He then delivered on time and with great quality recordings! - check_circleVerified

If you are looking for AWESOME TIMPANI, German is your man! I gave him an orchestral piece for drums and timpani, and he knocked it out of the park. One caveat: as German lives in Venezuela, which has a severe gas shortage, do not be in a hurry to receive your completed music. German is a truly gifted musician who is well worth the wait.

Germán is a very talented percussionist. His timpani playing is very good. It shows he takes the time to get his intonation right and to play the right notes. He's very aware of the feel that's needed for a particular track. Thanks for your contribution Germán!

Thank you, Germán!
You delivered excellent recordings for Glockenspiel, Timpani and Cymbal for my orchestral work. I couldn't afford hiring a percussion section in a symphony hall and you were the best solution I got to finally record my percussion section. The sound was tight and crisp which makes it blend really well with any room tone. I'll be sure to record with you again in the future! - check_circleVerified

Epyac Jylb Inc. I am here again writing another review about Germán Domador. I was privileged to work with him again on another project. Germán is indeed a very talented percussionist. He puts his heart into the work no matter how small it is. He just wants to make sure that we receive the best results that we could possibly hope for. A true musician spirit I would say!
Germán deserves every penny for his work. But you must be patient with him, because of the internet service he has. In the end, he will exceed your expectations. On top of that, he's a very kind person!
Interview with Germán Domador
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: My percussion teacher my father and my Uncle has been and inspiration for me, And Also the Conductors, band leaders and musicians that I have played with during my career ! And that has a heart influence in my style! When I was a kid I grew up listening to Brazilian music and Venezuelan Music especially ONDA NUEVA by Aldemaro Romero (that’s my dad influence) For my part I was listening to Latin American Rock(Argentina’s, Soda Estéreo, Charly García, Fito Páez) And when I started studying music I listened a lot of Classical, and all the great Rock Bands from the 70”! (It was my percussion teacher influence) And because of my Uncle I grew up listening to a lot of jazz and Salsa Brava! I am a mixture of everything, but In my Soul I am. Rocker and a Classical guy! The Venezuelan environment is plenty of different things! And we Venezuelan musicians are very open minded and able to play almost any kind of music!
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: This question is a consecuense if the previous one! When you feel that you know the song and really feel that you are making music! You leave your essence, your heart and soul to the song! You leave your seal as an artist an as a musician! It is when magic Occours!! And you add to the song and put it in a next level !and make a great song and a production that will be everlasting!!
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: As a Symphonic percussionist I would like to play with KITARO, and also to be a part of the recording session musicians for Flim Music, in Los Angeles, at MGM recording stage, As a drummer I have always dream to be a part of Sting’s band , so many great drummers has played there that has been an inspiration for me!
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: SYMPHONIC RECORDINGS Tipically I go to the rehershal room and set up the mics for recording, usually if it is Timpani I use two Overheads and One Room Mic, Or If the Client needs more I could use two Overheads, Two Room Mics in a XY position and two Close mics between the Timpani . If the Client sends me the Written part I go directly on recording, but If I have to create the Part I listen to it , 2 or 3 times record some Ideas, and then When I feel satysfied with the Part ,I record the Definetive part., DRUMSET RECORDINGS Talking about drum set recordings I usually listen to it many times after go to the drum and tracking, It always come into my mind ideas and hep me to be clear on what I want to add to the song! During The session , there is always a instance and a time where you feel that you know the song, you begin to really enjoying! That’s the best point! When you start to make music!!
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Well I recommend to strive to deliver a musical work where you add your innervoice, an energy as a musician. Do not just go over the piece do one take and Leave it Like that. I could happen, but usually after two or three takes that where you get to know the music , and after that is when you really go to the other level of printing your musicianship to the music and the producction. And make it Shine, Contribute to the Project and making it sound better.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: I work on Classical music, World music, Latin music and Rock and Pop music.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I have my own recording studio, where I am able to record Drumset and small percussion intruments, also vibes. It is an space with a stone wall at the end , and acoustis pannels for High and mid Frecuencies at side walls and celling, and two bass traps at two corners. I can get a great drumsound there,Great crisp Cymbals. I usually record drumms with 8 mics, but can add up to 12 mics adding room mics and snare bottom. If I record Real Timpani and Symphonic Percussions I most of the time record at the Rehershal room of the Symphony Orchestra were I work with.(The Municipal Symphony Orchestra Of Caracas)That is a Big Room with a very nice Natural Reverb.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: The most common type of work is recording real Timpani and Any Symphonic percussion like Vibes, Cymbals, Tubular bells, Campanelli-Glockenspiel. etc .Sometimes I record Drumset and Symphonic percussion together in a Proyect too, Besides any client might need Congas,Bongos, Timbales , etc. Sometimes the client ask me to create the Timpani part, or Symphonic percussion part composed by myself after listening to their music and proyects, and also there are clients Who has already written the percussion part and send it to me. As i am part of a Symphony Orchestra I could arrange to record any strings, brass or woodwind section for any recording proyect too
