Interview with MadManStudio
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: Hybrid. I mix ITB and master thru analog hardware. In today's world, plugin is truly reliable and efficient. As for mastering, I do hybrid.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: Their songs are able to compete within the Professional Industry
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: A blessing to enjoy different kinds of music thru my job!
Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?
A: How loud can my master be? Depends on the elements in your song, less is more, and more is less. A folk song can sound much louder than a crushed metal/heavy metal song.
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Make sure your songs/production and files quality are good. No amount of mixing can make a bad song a good one. Feel comfortable and ask me anything you want and please don't assume that you can't afford me, I'm always open for negotiation!
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: Modern and diverse.
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: Any passionate artist that would share their work with me!
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: For “Music Production” Less is more. Less is Loud.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: Listening and communication, I listen to my clients on what they truly needs, and I'm not afraid to point out something that is possible or impossible to achieve. I have crazy work ethics, a perfectionist, and the ability to understands the vibe of the music I am working on. As my clients success will also be my success.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: Depending on the songs that I'm working with, I try to understand what's the most important element of that given song, and I'll make sure it will shines by it's own uniqueness but with a certain amount of control. I believe that every song has its own unique sound hence needs different kinds of treatment to make them feel special. Most importantly, a professional sounding record.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: I listen to the rough/demo mix, then I will communicate and define the direction of the song. And let the artist know if I'm the right guy for your the job. If it's a yes, I will send out the deal, once funding received, I will check the files and make sure they're good to go, and start the job. Depending on the stem count of the project, my turn around time could be 1 to 7 days. Then I'll follow up with the artist if there's any changes to be made. After those revisions, I will then proceed to print the masters. Yay~
