Interview with Jose Bedoya. "JOZZEM"
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: Loaded, punchy and organic.
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: I would like to work with Bad bunny or Tainy as I consider them to be extremely creative and innovative people in what they do and this can bring great learnings for me.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: 60 Hz is the key.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: Urban genres such as Reggaeton, Dancehall, Trap, Hip-Hop, R&B; however, I also like to work with electronic music genres and from time to time experiment with genres such as Folk or more "Acoustic".
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: As a person, my strongest skill is persistence until I achieve the goal or sound the client is looking for. On the technical side, I stand out mainly as a maseterina engineer and as a music producer.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: Mainly I bring all my feeling, as I always seek to connect with the project and be satisfied with it. I seek to contribute as much as I can both creatively and technically. Technically I can bring the characteristic sound of urban genres, giving the body and weight that brings these genres without losing the organic and thus achieve more impact on listeners.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: First I start with listening to some music of the genre I am going to work with, with this I get inspiration and nourish my ears musically. Once I decide to sit down to work on the project, I try to make sure that my ear is as rested and attentive as possible, so from time to time I take breaks or active pauses so I can be sure that what I am not letting myself be biased by auditory fatigue; besides that, once I consider the project or first revision finished, I wait a couple of hours and listen to it again to refine the details that I might have overlooked. I try to work everything In the box, since I consider that nowadays plugins are very well worked and optimized, especially analog equipment emulations. This saves me time testing equipment and maintenance costs.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I have professional quality equipment from the cables to the excellent converters and pre-amps provided by Antelope. I was very detailed with the acoustic design of my studio, each parameter was calculated, measured and simulated in detail to achieve the best possible sound; also all playback equipment such as speakers and headphones are finely calibrated.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: Tainy, Sky rompiendo, Nesty, Rvssian,JBalvin, Jaycen Joshua, Dave Kutch, Alizz, Josh Gudwin,Colin Leonard.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: My main focus is the production, mixing and mastering of a piece of music. But as a sound engineer I have the ability to perform a myriad of jobs in the area.
