Session and Touring Bassist who's worked with Shelby Lynne, Billy Preston, Chuck Prophet, Ian Moore, Luce, The Bittersweets, Jeff Halford and the Healers, and many others.
I'm a San Francisco bassist and split my time between my work as the bass player for Chuck Prophet and the Mission Express and my in-studio and at-home recording projects. I have 30 years of experience playing Americana, Blues, Rock, Soul, and R&B. What distinguishes my work is the deep pocket and feel I bring to a project. My experience and musical instinct mean I'll lay down the bass line that best suits your song, whether it's a simple groove or a melodic line. I love what I do, and I love collaborating with artists and producers to make sure you get exactly what you want.

Endorse Kevin Thomas WhiteKevin is not only the best bass player I have ever worked with, he is also a great hang during a gig, session or video shoot. I have worked with Kevin on 3 full releases and he not only brings great tone to the song, he plays the exact notes with the perfect feel for the song. He listens to the whole song and adds character to the foundation. I wouldn’t call anyone else.
Having spent many decades both playing and recording music, I can honestly say that I've never encountered a better bass player than Kevin. He is always my first recommendation when someone needs a session bass player. He's professional, creative, has amazing tone and ALWAYS in the pocket.
Kevin is an outstanding musician and one of the finest bass players I have encountering in almost forty years of recording and performing. He is highly flexible to the needs of each individual song. In many contexts he has performed brilliantly and my songs have been greatly enhanced by his work. He is easy to work with and great guy to chat with!
I've worked Kevin on, literally, hundreds of recordings. He always comes prepared to the record sessions, ready with ideas but also willing to take direction and always willing to do one more pass to get it right. His R&B, Soul, and Blues feels are deep, coming from years of experience as a performing musician and also as a constant student of his instrument.
