Matt Russell

Remote finisher and mixer

Matt Russell on SoundBetter

20+ years and hundreds of credits as a producer, engineer, mixer, sound designer and composer of rock, acoustic music and electronica.

Matt Russell is a musician, composer, producer, engineer, mix engineer and audio for picture specialist. He has been working as an audio pro for 20+ years and has worked with local independent, regional and national artists.

After attending Berklee as a drum performance major, Matt decided to stay in the Boston area where he met and began to learn from two, great mentors, Brian McTernan and Tom Polce. They helped Matt go from a borderline novice to a working professional and set the example of what real dedication hard work in this business can bring you.

Matt is most often hired as a finisher and mixer. The draw to working with Matt is his musicality and his ability to bring out the best in what the artist is looking for on their record. Sonics never take a back seat are equally important to Matt and the results speak for themselves.

He's mostly known to work on acoustic-electronica and rock of many varieties, but that's just the start of what Matt works on.

In his work for picture, he's worked with many of the largest companies in the world as well as local production companies, independent producers, writers and editors as a composer, sound designer and re-recording mixer.

He lives in Boston, MA and works out of his own studio, Gain Structure Sound, as well as several Boston area studios, including Q Division Studios.
