Interview with Bookie Miles
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: I recently worked with a female artist who does hip hop and RnB. When I sent her the final mix and mastered revision of the song she was very happy and satisfied. I helped her upload it to Spotify and she got a lot of streams fast.
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: I'm a artist to, My stage name is Bookie Miles I'm a verified musical artist on Google and YouTube and I also have a decent following. I am a local celebrity in the Florida area. Right now I'm currently working on my own Album called Perfect Timing.
Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?
A: Not to my knowledge, I am open to communicate, network, Collab, and build relationships.
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: I use both, it all depends on what type of sound the client is going for.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: I promise to put my all into every project and meet the clients expectations and vision of the song. If I don't accomplish that. I will send a refund back ASAP.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: I love the mixing process.
Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?
A: Customers commonly ask me what daw I use. My answer is Protools but I can use any daw.
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: You need top of the line gear. Even though I have invested and now I have that big professional sound that everyone like, that's false you can accomplish a great quality sounding song if you learn your DAW or program you using and put your ear and skills to work.
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: What's there vision for the song , what sound are they going for, then I put my ideas in and we collaborate keep open communication until the process is complete and the client is 100 percent satisfied with the mixed and mastered song.
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Trust me.
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: CPU, Mic, interface, Protools, SSL 9000 I console.
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: Music and football, ....I always had a deep love and passion for both....I ended up choosing music.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: Very versatile.

A: Jay Z, because I hear a lot about his recording process.

A: Learn your DAW.

A: All genres.

A: Mixing and mastering any song and genre.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: I capture the artist best performance, I polish every artist performance that's on the song. I bring my mixing excellence, tools, and experience to achieve the sound to my clients taste. If a client sends over the files and stems I keep a open line of communication with client so we can accomplish the sound the client is going for.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: I communicate with my client to get they ideas and what sound they are going for. If we record I make sure my client gives the best performance I motivate and coach them up if needed. After that I clean up the raw vocals

A: I use Protools as my main daw, I have a focusrite 2i2 3rd gen audio interface, I also just purchased a Universal Audio Apollo X duo. I have a variety of condenser microphones I own the Neumann U87, Telefunken U47, AKG C414, Audio Technica at2035, Sony C800

A: DJ Swivel, Young Guru, Susan Rodgers, Jimmy Douglas, Andrew Dawson, Sean Paine, Mike Strange Jr.,
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: I am a very experienced audio Engineer 15+ years. I use my very expensive equipment my trained ear for all genres of music. I use Protools as my main daw I'm part of the Protools inner circle so I own pretty much every plugin. I listen to my clients vision ideas and the sound they are looking for and I don't stop until that goal is matched and the client is satisfied.
