Typewriter on SoundBetter

Multi platin awarded producer and mixer. Specialised in modern radio mixes for pop, trap and electronic music. - "When mixing, I listen as a producer. When producing, I think as a mixer."

Hi, great to meet you!

My name is Robin Tadic aka Typewriter. Being a multi instrumentalist I prefer using the computer keyboard as the main instrument to write music with.

My work centers around fabricating a top notch modern sound. I have over a decade of experience as music producer and mixing engineer, have worked with many great talents and celebrate several platinum and gold awards with them.

After graduating with a masters degree in Pop Music from the Zurich University of the Arts, I have worked as an assistant engineer for a Grammy nominated producer for several years. After that I started my own recording studio and am running an independent record label as well as a boutique sample label. As a songwriter I currently am signed with Kobalt publishing.

Interview with Typewriter

  1. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  2. A: I work 100% in the box, although I grew up working in a big studio and love analog gear. Working in a digital domain gives me the flexibility I need for the type of music I´m working on. When producing, I don´t want to waste time on setting up gear. It all has to go really fast. When I want to achieve a certain sound I usually know how to get it and I know how to get it quick. That´s my philosophy on modern production. Focus on flow and feeling. Another note, I believe that it´s more about the pilot flying the plane rather than the plane itself.

  3. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  4. A: Master of Arts in Pop Music, assistant engineer for Grammy-Nomminated producer, +12 years working fulltime as a producer

  5. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  6. A: I mostly work with pop or trap artists these days. This is the type of music that gets me most excited to work on.

  7. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  8. A: Mixing with emotion I think is an important skill.

  9. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  10. A: Above all I´d say my personal taste.

  11. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  12. A: Ableton. Adam Audio S3V Speakers. Very good room acoustics.

  13. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  14. A: It´s either starting a song from scratch in a writing session. This usually evolves to producing and mixing the song as well. Or it´s just getting a final production and just mixing and mastering it.
