professional vocalist/singer-songwriter/producer/mix engineer of 15 years from the UK based in a studio in east Sussex. Send me a message and lets get working together on your next project!
I am well-versed in a diverse array of vocal, writing, and production work, spanning from library, pitch, and sync projects to collaborative ventures with artists. With a commendable track record of five years as a songwriter, I have earned credits on major label artist releases, including notable names such as Callum Scott, and achieved success in the Korean music industry with K-pop tracks, among other accomplishments.
My proficiency extends to remote vocal recording from my professionally equipped studio, which has been my primary income source for the past year along side mixing/producing. I take pride in being a consummate professional in this domain, ensuring a swift, stress-free turnaround of high-quality work. Client satisfaction is paramount, and I am dedicated to delivering products that leave my customers genuinely excited and content.
Having devoted the last 15 years of my life to the music industry as a performing musician, touring extensively across the country, I trace my initial passion for music as a career to those formative years. However, my current focus lies in the realm of writing/producing/mixing/session vocalist work and music production work, where I have found my true calling and established a robust presence.

He has an amazing voice. I requested some unique pronunciations. He might not have been used to them, but he did his job perfectly. Absolutely Professional.

I just completed my first song with George, but it is masterful. He nailed the emotion of the song in such a way that I won't need to add a lot of production to sell it. This will be the first of many songs I'll seek George's help with!

This was my second time working with George and he once again absolutely crushed this vocal. He put in a lot of work, was super patient - working through some issues with the track and staying late to get it all done in time. There are a lot of good singers on Soundbetter - and George is definitely one of them. But what separates him is that when George sings your song, it sounds like he wrote it. He’s totally invested in it and it shows. HIRE THIS MAN.

George was a pleasure to work with. His vocals were perfect for the song. He followed all my directions flawlessly and really delivered. Stems arrived exactly as I asked for them. Vocals were well recorded and he did a pro job editing them. Will definitely work him again.

Interview with George Dewhurst
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I have a simple but effective in a box set up with a little analogue hardware all set up in a sound-proofed/treated studio. It's a highly productive work space for me, simplicity was key and i feel i spent the money where needed to create professional quality recordings.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: My main source of income is Vocal Recording work. But i would say the other half of my time is split between writing work and touring.
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: I am especially proud of my solo artist project, it's been a passion project built from nothing but love and the reaction I've had from just a year in has been mind blowing. the tracks written for next years releases i feel are another step up and i can't wait to get them released!
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: I have lots of exciting projects on at the moment, from personal projects to other artists work.
Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?
A: George Gleeson is a friend of mine and i couldn't recommend his work highly enough!
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: digital ultimately just for the portability, but a mix is the dream
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: I am not here to do anything other than my very very best for you.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: Meeting amazing musical people and playing music all the time.
Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?
A: Can this be done by tomorrow? If it's not an unreasonable amount of work I will always do my best to achieve the outcome desire in the right amount of time.
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: I can work for free.
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: I like to spend a good amount of time with each client before work is carried out to make sure we land on exactly the same page. This is normally done through a zoom call, i would say that because music is so different and subjective the questions i ask are personal to each project. This being said i always make sure i come equipped to these calls with pre written questions that i know I'll want answering.
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Be unapologetically you and keep going, you've got this.
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: Notepads pens guitar piano dictaphone
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I started as a touring musician and continue to do so now, but i have found a real love for writing which has led me down a two year path of building a studio and working days and nights to get my career growing in the tracking/writing world too!
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: Melody focused, over the most suitable groove
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: Any one that inspires me ultimately, but i dream of writing a tune with Sam Tompkins.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Less is more - always
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: pop/indie-pop/rock/soul/singer-songwriter
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: I feel my pop sensibility when it comes to writing is one of my strongest skills.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: I feel my main strength i can bring to a song is my strong understanding/passion of melody as well as a voice that tracks really well across a broad amount of genres. I also feel I have a talent for capturing the emotional essence of a song and portraying that through the music.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: I Always like to understand as much as i can about the job I'm taking on through a good conversation with each client normally taken on zoom. I think this is really important to fully understand the emotion of the track I'm working with from the artist/writer before i attempt to work on it myself for both landing the right outcome and getting it done in a time efficient process when working to deadlines.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: I feel inspired by the majority of people i work with and always aspire to put myself around inspirational people.
