Hey, my name is Haydn Martin and I am an up and coming mixing/recording engineer and music producer based near Sydney. I have worked with a wide variety of genres and artists helping them achieve a professional sounding record at a competitive rate.
As a highly skilled and experienced mixing engineer and music producer, I am committed to helping musicians achieve their vision for their record.
I have worked with a wide variety of genres and artists, and am open-minded and adaptable to new challenges. My skills in audio are diverse, including recording, multi-tracking, vocal comping and tuning, audio editing, production, live sound, mixing, and mastering. I have a passion for music production, and my forte is in mixing – I am comfortable working in a diverse range of genres but I am most comfortable and experienced with rock and synth based music.
In addition to my work with individual artists, I have also gained valuable experience working with well-known companies such as Triple J, ABC radio and Penguin publishing. I have edited top selling audio books and chart-topping podcasts, and am well-versed in the technical and creative aspects of audio production.

Endorse Haydn MartinHaydn’s attention to detail and contextual instinct is second to none. He thinks forward to ensure mixes are optimised for mastering, while also considering and respecting the production decisions made during the recording. Haydn is a very intelligent, helpful and skilled recording engineer and music producer. We recorded an EP with Haydn, he always goes above and beyond and is never satisfied or happy until the artist is happy. I have been blown away by his expertise and he has made this whole experience enjoyable, comfortable and has produced results of high quality. I highly recommend going to see Haydn with anything you need.

Interview with Haydn Martin
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I have been working as a recording and mixing engineer for over a year, and have been involved in the music industry for around 5 years through live sound and performing in bands or as a solo artist. I have also been producing and recording my own music since the age of 12.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: I tailor my workflow to best suit the needs of each client I work with. In general, I start a project by focusing on the drum sound, as I believe that percussion carries the most energy in a song. I also record vocals last, so that the singer can get a full feeling of the vibe of the song. During mixing, I take my time with each track and offer 2 mix revisions to ensure that the artist is happy with the final product before it is sent to mastering. This approach allows me to deliver high quality sound that meets the specific needs and vision of each artist.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: Rick Rubin and Silvia Massy are major influences on my work as a mixing and recording engineer, known for their philosophies about music and creative recording techniques respectively. Kevin Parker from Tame Impala and Joji also inspire me with their innovative and unique music, while Koan Sound impresses me with their sound design, punchy drums and fat basses.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: I typically work as a producer and engineer for my clients, recording their songs from start to finish in in-person studio sessions at Top End Sound Studios. I have recently joined Soundbetter to expand my client base and offer my services to a wider range of artists.
