I would love to put live drums on your Country, Americana, Rock, or CCM song or album. Lets collaborate and make some really cool music together!
My name is Landen Howell. I am a touring and session drummer based in Nashville TN. I have been playing drums for 16 years and have been playing professionally for 10. My only goal when I sit down at a drum set is to serve the song. My main influences include Terence F. Clark, Steve Jordan, Troy Bruner, Kyle Neblett, and Andrew Isbell.

Endorse Landen HowellLanden is always so solid in his playing! You never have to guess if his parts will fit the song because he is just that good! I've been blessed to have recorded and played with him live and he's so easy to work with!
Landen is the best!! I’ve know him for many years and every project that he works on is always enhanced! As a producer/mix engineer myself, I value tones, balance and musicianship. And Landen exudes these qualities to perfection, hire him!!
Landen is the real deal. I've had the privilege of working with him on several projects and he always delivers. As a producer, I really value his attention to detail, consistent performances, his ear and sensitivity to the song, and the heart he puts into his work. Highly recommend Landen for all your drum needs.
Excellent! I have both hired and worked alongside Landen on a number of projects over the years, and am always impressed with his commitment to excellence. For me, he covers all the bases that a pro studio drummer should- Tones, parts, pocket, dynamics, and a good time. He is one of the few drummers that I trust with my own songs and clients, and I am confident that he will take good care of yours.
Landen has played on a number of live and recording projects for me with my Americana/Pop duo. The tunes we've worked on require not just accuracy with the parts, but good feel and attention to dynamics, all things at which Landen excels. He's also played live and recorded for my wife's CCM/Pop project, and brings incredible energy to all of his performances both on-stage and in the studio. Would highly recommend Landen for your project.

Interview with Landen Howell
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: I worked on a n EP by "Climb the Ocean." I was really proud of these drum parts and drum sounds. The two songs, "I Can See the Sun", and "Maybe You Are" are my favorite drum parts I have recorded to date.
Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?
A: I believe that there are a few.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: I promise Clients that they will have good drum sounds with a part that will serve their song to the best of my ability.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: I love creating music with friends and making new friends creating music.
Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?
A: I honestly don't usually get questions. All of the people that I have worked with are producers that I have worked with in the past and they like what I could bring to the project.
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: Im currently out on the S/L Worship Spring 2023 Tour
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: All of my gear is digital. Its so much easier to work with in my opinion from a tracking standpoint.
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: I think the biggest misconception in tracking drums is that you can just program them or fix it with quantization. I don't believe that there is any* replacement for real drums played well by a competent drummer. *I don't love absolutes and I know that there are some producers that do a really good job programming drums.
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: What is your goal for the project? What is your ideal timeline? What music inspires you? Can you show me an example of the drum sounds you are looking for?
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Work with someone because you want to work with that person, not because someone else tells you to hire someone. Character is the most important attribute that anyone brings to the table.
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: a Macbook, an interface, a Ludwig Acrolite, a sure beta 57, and a kick drum.
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I started playing drums in church. That is where most of my professional journey has been. I have had the opportunity to do that at a high level whether that be at churches with high production value or on the road with many different collectives of musicians. I have been playing drums for sixteen years and have been working professionally for about ten years.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: I would say that I am "Pocket" drummer. Feel over Flash every time.
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: I would love to work with Sam Hunt. I think he is a great song writer and story teller. I think that I could make some really cool drum parts that fit in his music like the missing puzzle piece.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: the most important thing in the signal chain is the source.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: Ive worked mostly on Americana Pop, CCM, and Rock'n'Roll
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: I would say that my strongest skill is serving the song. Its one of my two goals through my whole process.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: I bring energy and consistency, and feel to a song
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: I will start by listening to the demo, then the reference tracks. Then I will take some notes on what I would like to put down on the track. I will typically take a few passes, make any adjustments that I need to make to the part, then track it again. I try REALLY HARD to get one cohesive take to send to the artist. Ill do any post production that needs to be done, then send it off.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I have an 8 channel interface, a small variety of ribbon, dynamic, and small diaphragm condenser microphones. I track in Logic Pro.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: Aaron Sterling, Terence F. Clark, and Alex McVey
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: Recently, I have done Remote Drum Tracking for friends in other cities
