Interview with Jesper Adolfsson

  1. Q: What are you working on at the moment?

  2. A: I am DJing at the same time as playing live guitar. Creating a world where electronic music meets electric guitar.

  3. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  4. A: Both! But the luxury of today to have "all in the box", digital takes the lead.

  5. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  6. A: I will always work close with my clients and get the projects according to their vision.

  7. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  8. A: Creativity never ends. I feel like today people is starting to become less creative and I have to be creative in order to produce a good song or record a good guitar part. To be proud of a music piece that I can listen to over & over and also cooperate with other talented musicians makes me love the job so much.

  9. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  10. A: What's your vision with the song? What feeling do you want the listener to feel? What story do you want to tell?

  11. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  12. A: Tell me your vision! What's your goal with your artist project and how can I support that goal in the best way through this project?

  13. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  14. A: Acoustic guitar (obviously), Fishing net, Knife, Firestarter and a sailboat to get back to my studio (lol)

  15. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  16. A: I started playing guitar when I was 7. Then I started Djing at small bars & clubs at 16. I've came a long way since then and I've produced music for 10 years and played guitar for 17 years.

  17. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  18. A: If a sound calls, it needs a response.

  19. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  20. A: Merging the soul and beauty of guitar with modern music.

  21. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  22. A: Guitar melodies, chords and riffs. Depending on the song I also bring a vibe & feeling to the song. The guitar can make a song feel more vintage, sexy or punchy.

  23. Q: How would you describe your style?

  24. A: My style is a fusion between the 70's & 80's guitar sounds and todays modern pop & EDM. As a kid I grew up listening to my dads old KISS, Hendrix and SRV records. Growing up I started listening to Swedish DJs like Avicii and Swedish House Mafia, so that's my two sides of the style.

  25. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  26. A: John Mayer. Love the guy. Awesome guitar player, songwriter and producer - and he got funny jokes. Big fan.

  27. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  28. A: Pop, EDM, Hip-Hop,

  29. Q: What's your typical work process?

  30. A: I listen to the song and think of what kind of story the guitar can add to the song. What emotions can a guitar add to the song - then i think of what tone i should have on the guitar and what chords or melodies I should play.

  31. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  32. A: I record and produce in my own professional studio with professional gear. For electric guitar recordnings I use my trusty Fender Stratocaster. For acoustic guitar recordings I use my Richwood guitar and record it into my Se electronics z5600a ii condenser tube microphone.

  33. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  34. A: John Mayer, Lost Frequencies, Max Martin, Nic D, Connor Price, Alex Warren

  35. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  36. A: Record electric guitar to a song or produce a whole song from a clients idea
