Interview with SLANKS
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: I’m especially proud of a score I composed for a Porsche commercial. My role was to create a powerful, dynamic track that matched the brand’s high-octane energy and luxury appeal. The final piece was well-received and perfectly captured the essence of the brand.
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: I’m currently working on a cinematic score for a short film, as well as producing a new electronic track for an upcoming indie game.
Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?
A: I’d recommend Krane, a talented producer, whose work is consistently top-notch and who shares a commitment to quality and client satisfaction.
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: Digital, because it offers endless possibilities in sound design and production and the flexibility to work on projects anywhere with consistency.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: I promise to deliver high-quality, original music that perfectly aligns with your vision while maintaining clear communication and meeting deadlines.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: I love the creative freedom and the ability to shape emotions through sound. There’s nothing more satisfying than bringing an idea to life and seeing it resonate with others.
Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?
A: Clients often ask how long the process takes. My answer is that it varies depending on the project, but I always aim to deliver within a week while keeping communication open throughout.
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: A common misconception is that music production is just about technical skills. In reality, it’s equally about creativity, emotional intelligence, and understanding the client’s vision.
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: I ask about their vision for the project, the emotions they want to evoke, and any reference tracks they have in mind to ensure we’re aligned from the start.
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Look for someone whose style resonates with your vision, and who is flexible and communicative. The right match will bring your project to life.
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: A laptop, a MIDI controller, a portable audio interface, headphones, and a solar-powered battery charger.
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I started as a musician, gradually transitioning into composing and producing. I’ve been in the industry for over a decade, constantly evolving my sound and skills.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: My style is a fusion of electronic and orchestral elements, characterized by cinematic depth, intricate sound design, and dynamic energy.
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: I'd love to work with 2WEI. Their ability to create powerful, emotionally charged scores is something I deeply admire, and collaborating with them would be a dream.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Always start with a strong concept or emotion in mind, and let that guide your production decisions. This will give your music a clear direction and emotional resonance.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: I primarily work on electronic, cinematic, and orchestral music, often blending these styles to create unique tracks for visual media.
