Interview with Jarred
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: All digital. I get it.. analog purists are here and there’s a time and place. And don’t get me wrong, analog is amazing! But today, everything is digital and “in the box.” We have come so far in the industry with technology and that we can model even the best analog gear incredibly closely. Plus, mostly everything you hear is probably produced digitally, with a very small exception all analog (and more so a combination of digital and analog). Ps, analog gear does have a beautiful sound to it!
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: That we will both be satisfied with our work :)
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: I absolutely love music and I love to help people. There’s nothing better!
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: That mastering is just volume and loudness…. It’s soooooo much more than just that and it can make or break a track just like mixing!
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: I want to know what your end goal of the track is and what you want to focus on. Please send references!! :)
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Please be clear in your ask so we can work together effortlessly and don’t be afraid to ask questions! I’m always looking to help!
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: Laptop Logic Pro X Serum Kontakt FabFilter Bundle (If I was allowed a bonus it would be Soundtoys bundle 😄).
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: My personal production style is definitely focused on progressive house and future rave but I do love melodic / deep house and melodic dubstep too!
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: Oh easy— Hardwell and also Tiësto. Legends.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Hmm.. 🤔 I’d say keeping things simple and not overthinking them is truly the best advice that I can give anyone! For years I overthought and overproduced everything and everything finally took a great turn when I stopped exactly that and started making more concise decisions.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: I mostly focus on progressive house, melodic/deep house, big room, and future rave. I’m open to almost any electronic genre so don’t hesitate to ask!
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: I want to bring you into a song. I want to bring my knowledge and experience into your track but realistically, I want *you* to come out through what is, after all, your music!
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: Man, I’m inspired by so many types of music and sounds overall. I can walk down the street and hear a sound in nature or a city and it’ll spark creation in me for a new track idea or production idea. Hardwell has always been my biggest electronic music inspiration hands down though.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: The most common work is definitely mastering a track overall and vocal work! And I have to say, if it’s a good vocal, I love to work with them and make them come alive in unique and inspiring ways!
