Nick Stone on SoundBetter

New Zealand born, Nashville based Americana, Folk, Blues producer, session musician, singer, mixing engineer, dog lover. I am a touring vocalist, acoustic and electric guitarist for indie Americana band South For Winter. However I am also proficient at bass, mandolin, and piano. I love producing music, but don't shy away from other audio editing to

For a lot of the year I tour with South For Winter, an Americana trio based in Nashville, and on the side I pick up every creative gig possible! As an artist and a producer I understand both perspectives, which helps communication for a faster turn around. After graduating the New Zealand Broadcasting School I began my audio career in radio advertising; reading commercials, writing scripts, producing jingles and other on-air content. The commercial radio industry is a fast paced environment that taught me how to balance creativity and time management. This was reflected in 2011, winning a New Zealand Radio award for "Best New Broadcaster - Technical and Creative". Moving to Nashville 5 years ago has enabled me the chance to perform guitar, sing and produce in some of the best studio's in the world; The Tracking Room, Sound Emporium Studio's, Omni Sound.

As a producer and session musician, my goal is to capture the essence of the song within my performance/arrangement. Although audio can be enhanced and altered, I believe in a 'performance matters most' ethos. Living in Nashville has provided opportunities to work with rising musicians such as Claire Kelly, Jackson Bruck, Adrian + Meredith, and Gareth Pearson. Each with their own unique styles of Folk/Americana.
To me, organic instrumentation is the heart and soul of music. Looking forward to collaborating!
