Great arrangement and talented musician. Love the piece!
Dalton is such a pleasure to work with and builds tracks from scratch like a champ. I’ve done multiple writing sessions with him and he seamlessly pieces together everything in such an organic way.
I’ve been involved in several recording projects with Dalton. Each and every one has been handled in a timely manner with the most professional attitude and expertise. He has the unique ability to bring out the best performances in myself and others, as well as hearing things nobody else in the room can hear. Things that take the music you’ve written from good to great.
Turn around time is always quick and I’ve never been disappointed with anything I’ve heard that Dalton has produced!
I very highly recommend Dalton for any and all projects you have! You won’t be disappointed
Interview with Dalton Radu
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: #1. - Communication. It’s very important to me that we’re on the same page about your goals/expectations with the project. I’m here to make this an easy process for all involved & help you achieve your vision. #2. - Quality. I’m a perfectionist by nature, so I can assure you that I wouldn’t put my name & time behind a project without it meeting the same level of quality & care as my own music would.
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: That mixing is the part of the process where you make everything "sound good". If the production or individual performances (vocal & instrument) aren't good, then the mix won't be either. It's important to have solid core sounds & performances in your production in order to achieve a great sounding mix. Address those issues in the recording/tracking process.
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: If there's a reference mix that you like from a similar band, to give me an idea of the sound you're going for. Also, if you have a rough mix of your song(s) – what are some things that you really like about it & what do you dislike about it.
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I studied Music Production & Mixing/Mastering with Berklee Online on & off from 2010 - 2016. I've been in recording studios as a drummer since I was 9 years old, first working with producer Brian Moncarz (Alice Cooper, Our Lady Peace). I've always felt extremely comfortable in a recording setting & have worked in different studios throughout Toronto over the years. I eventually opened my own studio in 2016, and have been working as a freelance producer / mix engineer ever since.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: Pop, Rock, Alternative, Indie, Country, Singer/Songwriter
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: Jack Antonoff, Bruce Springsteen, Brian Eno, Markus Dravs, COIN
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: Since I opened the studio, we've mostly been production & mixing focused. Building a song from its simplest form (usually acoustic guitar & vocal) into a fully realized, professionally recorded & mixed product.
