Mixing, Mastering & Production

Ryan Davies (RCD Audio) on SoundBetter

Hello, I'm a professional mixing & mastering engineer helping artists and bands (particularly home studio musicians) get a better professional sound from their songs easily and affordably.

I'm Ryan - I've been in music production for 15 years. I specialise in helping home studio musicians transform their audio into a professional sound both easily and affordably.

I offer mixing services, mastering services and also vocal tuning services. I'm very approachable and supportive and there's absolutely no judgement from me on the quality of your recordings - I've been there and done that myself so I know what it can be like.

I've worked on 100s of projects spanning a variety of genres including, pop, rock, ambient, acoustic, blues garage, hip hop, experimental and so on! I've worked with a range of artists to achieve a sound similar to the following artists: Richard Hawley, Davendra Banhart, The War On Drugs, King Gizzard and The Lizard Wizard, Abakus, Willy Mason, Sunflower Bean, Big Thief, Kurt Vile.

Feel free to check out my website for more information or for more audio samples - https://rcdaudio.co.uk/ - Or just get in touch :)

Interview with Ryan Davies (RCD Audio)

  1. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  2. A: Shhhh don't tell anyone but I think digital is a lot better - It's quicker, more reliable and easily adjustable. I can hear pitchforks!

  3. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  4. A: Working with great people no matter what their musical ability or background. I love working with people on their pride and joy projects and getting their songs to sound as professional as possible.

  5. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  6. A: I have been a musician, a teacher, a songwriter - and along the way I have always been involved in production and engineering. However it's within the last 5 years that I've branched out and offered my support as a full on mixing & mastering engineer.

  7. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  8. A: Making an OK mix sound excellent!

  9. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  10. A: I take inspiration from absolutely everywhere. I love "bad" old recordings and really appreciate newer modern pop production too. But George Martin will always be my favourite production-wise.

  11. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  12. A: I call it mastering with a clean up! This process involves mastering a track but also tidying the mix a little from the main file. I often work with home studio musicians and mastering can be great for them to get a professionals touch on their track without breaking the bank.
