Interview with AbiYah
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: I love all my projects because they come from my soul, that's what great about God, I can never create something that I look back at in the future and am disappointed in as long as I follow his creative hand.
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: Always improving.
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: Digital, I simply function better that way, I know the functionality of all the aspects of music making used in a professional quality song, including the key aspects of what sets a song in motion. I would rather have them all electronically at my disposal rather than suffer technical issue from a physical component.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: To be courteous and to try my hardest to deliver their ideas in the way in which they were conceived.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: The sense of freedom, expression, and accomplishment that comes along with it.
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: That it's strictly one dimensional.
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: Would you prefer a fresh artist with palpable, firsthand practice, that can produce you a product of radio level quality for an affordable price or a producer that will show you a diploma then take off an arm and a leg?
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: There is no question that you cannot ask, let's set the pride aside and get things done right.
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: Canteen, Lighter, Fishing Pole, Tackle Box, Watch
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I gave my life to Christ in the ladder of 2020 and sense then have pretty much worked tirelessly studying under multiple academy producers through all the deep dives and one-on-one sessions I could find.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: Laid back but surprisingly determined.
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: nobigdyl. the most because his sense of sentence structure and flow is very unique. That in conjunction with his sense of humor is very impressive in my opinion.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Don't spend pointless time trying to sort through the piles of free Youtube content, there in useful information layed out in a very incorrect way and it can in turn lead to more confusion.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: Gospel / Hip Hop / Trance / Lo-fi
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: Gain Staging
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: I believe I capture ambient elements very well and my sense of drum programming is very unique as I use a lot of elements to link Non syncopation in a very melodic way.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: I create and finish a song in 3 days traditionally but could do it faster for a price.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: It is rather traditional I don't possess the highest caliber of technology, but I have the knowledge it takes and more to produce a good song.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: Lecrae, nobigdyl., Hulvey, J.Monty
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
