Interview with Celestial Studios
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: I have no preference, it depends on what are you trying to achieve. Digital and Analog equipment are tools and I personally reach for whatever tool I need to achieve the sound I am looking for.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: I love working with artists. I know that sounds cliche but there is something special about being involve with someones vision and art. There is a nirvana I get when I become apart of your art.
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: The biggest misconception is the difference between a mixing engineer and mastering engineer. Although yes engineers can do both, you will mostly always get a better product getting a album mixed and mastered from different engineers. One engineer to mix the product, a different engineer to master the project.
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: What kind of sound are you looking for? Tone? Vibe? Artist Reference?
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: My advice is to lean into your strong suits. Do what you do best and split the work towards your goal. This will give your product the best execution.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: I would describe my style as a conscious warm sound. I am a fan of ambience and warmth.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
