Angel on SoundBetter

I'm a multi-instrumentalist and producer with 10+ years experience making my own music and composing for TV and films. My production technique is stylistically versatile, though indie electronic, pop, and RnB are my comfort zones.

I can sing, write parts, arrange, mix and master your song. Am also very open to writing parts and discovering the arrangement together! I want to help you transform your musical idea into a work of art.

Every song is like a poem, its own world that the listener is invited into and immersed in. I love making these worlds and finding ways to best engage the listener. Because of that, I think no one song can be approached in the same way and has its own process of coming to life. That said, I do have a general workflow. I specialize in producing entire tracks from scratch while simultaneously working on the mix and ending with mastering.

Working together with Angels was amazing! He was able to both understand what I was looking for, and add to that the things I hadn't thought of yet. Getting to know him through this project, I got to witness his love for getting lost in the music

Is so good at being able to take what put in a message through inbox and translate it into the sound that hear in song. Happy to work with Angel

Out of everyone on Soundbetter, Angel was the only one who knew exactly what sound and vision I was aiming for. Most people phone it in but Angel went above and beyond and the work turned out better then I initially thought it would. Not only do they deliver but is also very quick and is understanding when needing to make edits.

Interview with Angel

  1. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  2. A: My strongest skill would have to be coming up with a song on the fly. Next to that I'd have to say mixing because I'm very meticulous, and have a lot of experience doing that.

  3. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  4. A: A lot I think. I have a strong ability to see the potential in a song and build on an idea. So aside from musicality and muse, I also bring scope and clarity to a creative vision.

  5. Q: What's your typical work process?

  6. A: I typically like to begin with a musical bed of some kind, maybe its a beat or a progression. From there I like to focus on the vocal melodies and styling while also formulating lyrics. This is my personal way of writing, but I'm very open to other approaches.

  7. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  8. A: I have a small home studio with some high quality gear. I work from an iMac using Protools while routing audio through my Elektron Octatrack. My room is treated with some sound panels and I monitor using Krk Rokit 5 Classic, my Audio Technica professional headphones and also computer/phone speakers.

  9. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  10. A: Oh wow, so many. I have a few different self-curated playlists that I rotate through. Currently artists like FKA Twigs, Moses Sumney, and always Bjork.

  11. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  12. A: I have mostly worked with filmmakers where I am composing an original composition, but have always produced my own songs on the side as well! So both lyrical and instrumental music. My instrumental music tends toward a more cinematic / indie orchestral feel where my songwriting is more in the alternative pop experimental realm.
