Producer Mixer Writer Musician

Taurus Records on SoundBetter

My name is Marat, I'm in love with music and music production. I'm Russia based mixing engineer, producer, singer-songwriter and sound designer. I'm open for collaborations and new works and projects that full of adventure.

I'm a mixing engineer first. I've became a such by years of mixing self-written and self-recorded songs.
Singer-songwriting process also opened in me an ability to focus on a particular material, to stress the emotion and feeling of a song.
Thus, I'm also a musician (guitarplayer mostly), arranger and producer.
I'll be happy to help your songs sound earnest and fascinating and be your guide or partner in the world of sounds.

Would love to hear from you. Click the contact button above to get in touch.

Interview with Taurus Records

  1. Q: What are you working on at the moment?

  2. A: At the moment I'm working on my solo album of songs, on which I'm playing almost all instruments

  3. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  4. A: As a prominent soundproducer Frank Filipetti once said "I have all that LA-2A, 1172 and Fairchilds and now I sell them, because working in the box is much better and effective. Analog is for weak people who like to crush on front of the gear".

  5. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  6. A: My clients (always) and their art (usually)

  7. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  8. A: What your main goal on hiring me?

  9. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  10. A: Rely on your intuition! Provider is not only who provide you with something as a machine but a interesting person with his own world inside.

  11. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  12. A: Guitar; microphone; recorder. I will use the cave as a reverb :)

  13. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  14. A: Don't pay extra attention to the reference tracks. Of course they're necessary and useful during mixing and production, but try to sound like yourself (or like artist you mixing) instead of meticulously trying to sound like somebody else

  15. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  16. A: Rock (guitar-drums-bass); Folk (acoustic guitar; ukulele; banjo; acoustic drums; flute); electronic music based on synthetic sounds;

  17. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  18. A: First of all my purposes in mixing or in playing the instrument are depend from the clients goals. Does he want a bright track or he wants make it darker? Secondly, I try to bring to life or make more obvious the main emotion or feeling of the track. I try not to purposely add anything from myself because if it's the mix, that I working on, "my fingerprint" will be there anyway.

  19. Q: What's your typical work process?

  20. A: It's hard to say because when I'm working I almost lose the sense of time and outside world is steps away.

  21. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  22. A: Among sound producers I really inspired by old school guys like George Martin, Geoff Emerick, Tony Visconti; also I adore the people who produce their own stuff like Jeff Lynne, John Frusciante, Mark Linkous (Sparklehorse)

  23. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  24. A: I do mixing and tracking the guitars mostly. Also sometimes I can give some artistic advises related to the material (if this is acceptable).
