David Pollock on SoundBetter

Big - Bold - Vibey - Impactful... this is how I mix and produce pop/rock music. Having worked on nearly 1,000 songs in over 15 studios, I love connecting with artists, supporting their vision, and doing whatever it takes to turn the sound in their head into a finished mix. I've worked with CAKE, Wild Ones, Forty Feet Tall, Sister, Liz Vice.

I'm here to help you finish your music and make it sound amazing. I can help bridge the gap between wherever your songs are currently, and your favorite music that inspires you.

Services I provide:

-Mixing
-Additional production & instruments (from my studio, with top musicians)
-Mastering
-In-person recording and production, anywhere in the country

I mix out of my well-equipped personal studio in Portland, Oregon, and also have an extensive background in high-end recording studios...I've worked at Figure 8 in Brooklyn, Sonic Ranch in Texas, Jackpot in Portland, New Monkey in LA, Germano Hit Factory in NYC, and many many more. Fancy studios are great, and I'd be happy to join you there, but that's often not necessary.

Get in touch, show me your tunes, and let's come up with a plan to finish your music!

David did a fantastic job with our master. He listened to our suggestions and communicated clearly and promptly with us. Ultimately, he put our song in its appropriate light and brought it to life.

Over the past decade, David has been heavily involved in the production of just about every record I've made as a band leader or producer. We've done live bands to tape with full analog mixing, tracking in his home studio, DIY setups in warehouses, in person and remote mixing, mastering, and about a million overdubs and tiny tweaks.
He's incredibly patient, focused, and easy to work with. And just as import, always heavily invested in the creative part of the process, not just the technical, which can't be overstated.
David is always the first engineer I recommend to everyone, enough said.

David uses his deep understanding of audio engineering to make good music! He listens closely to the songs and the musicians and makes decisions that support the vision of the project. His experience as a songwriter and instrumentalist make the tracking process fluid and creative. He is organized and creates a positive and safe environment to explore. He is immensely patient and definitely down to record singing bowls in chambers and hours of acoustic whammy guitar and bounce your owl recordings down to a variety of old tapes until your unique sonic world is complete :)

David has worked with major label artists as well as underground independent musicians and songwriters. He has a great personality for one on one work, as well as a connectivity that is excellent for larger bands and groups. He is always organized, excited and fun to work with.
David is one of the few types of producers that looks deeply into the artists work and helps create an atmosphere where great music and songs are being created. David Pollock understands the artistry of music production.

I've had the pleasure of working with David for the past 13 years. (Yes, he was a talented engineer, even in his teens.) We've worked on all-digital projects, all-analog projects, experimental projects, pure pop...everything from guitars and organs and live drums to pure electropop records with nothing but synthesizers and vintage drum machines. He knows how to make every type of record.

Many artists, including myself, get overly fixated on the micro, but David sees the macro. In other words, he sees the big picture. That's what it takes to make successful pop records.
