Vocals are THE most important part of your track. The average listener will be tuning into your song, wanting to connect with the vocals more than anything else. A catchy hook with MAKE OUR BREAK your song, so why not get the best quality you can?

My name is Brad West and I'm a classically trained singer with over 12 years of experience on stage and in the studio. Here is a link to a playlist of songs I have sung on: https://open.spotify.com/playlist/2Y2NImESZo2qljh9Ni4aws?si=2107b4001f4949bf

I will record vocals for your upcoming song with industry-standard recording equipment, producing high-quality stems that will give soul to your song.

I also offer songwriting services! I regularly write for clients and my own bands and I love to create the most dynamic and catchy vocal lines to make your song come alive.

Though I specialize in Rock, Punk, and Metal, I am also comfortable in genres such as Country, Pop, Hip Hop, and Jazz, and R&B.

Please send me a message before placing an order so that we can schedule a call, as I would like to get to know you as an artist and a songwriter before I start working on your piece.

Brad did an amazing job with our song, he improved the lyrics and melodies and gave a great vocal guide track. Brad is a pro and took the job with no qualms at all with an awesome turn around given how busy I was, Brad was very patient and understanding.

Interview with sun_setswest

  1. Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?

  2. A: That would be my band Against The Sun, I am the singer and principal songwriter for that band. All vocals are written by me and I perform all of the clean vocals.

  3. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  4. A: I will never 'phone in' your song. If I wouldn't want to listen to it, then I'm not sending it.

  5. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  6. A: The feeling I get when I write something that I am genuinely excited about.

  7. Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

  8. A: That it's easy to write vocals, especially lyrics. Getting a feel for what works well in a song and how words flow together to tell a story is an art, it takes a lot of time and practice.

  9. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  10. A: What emotions do you want conveyed by a vocal performance? How do you want your audience to react to your song?

  11. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  12. A: Let's hop on a call and discuss your song! I never want to start a project without getting to know a bit about you first.

  13. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  14. A: Laptop, interface, microphone, XLR, head phones

  15. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  16. A: I have been writing music and performing in bands for over 12 years. It is my favorite thing to do and I hope to make it my full time career.

  17. Q: How would you describe your style?

  18. A: I try to capture the moment when writing a piece, I don't second-guess myself, and I chase after what peaks my curiosity.

  19. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  20. A: I would love to work with Adam Gontier from Three Days Grace because that man's voice is the thing that inspired me to want to do music.

  21. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  22. A: Always grab more takes than you think you need. You will thank yourself when you're editing.

  23. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  24. A: I typically work on heavy/hard rock, but I do all sorts of genres ranging from Country to R&B and Pop. I cover a lot of ground in the Rock world though, specializing in Modern Rock, Emo, and Pop Punk.

  25. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  26. A: My strongest skill is writing big catchy choruses, which I always highlight as THE most important part to any song that has commercial intent. I pride myself on coming up with instantly catchy lines and infectious melodies that get stuck in people's heads.

  27. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  28. A: I never try to write the same song twice and I always want to write music that I would love to listen to. I try to experiment and not fall into what you would typically expect from a song, without overthinking a piece.

  29. Q: What's your typical work process?

  30. A: I like to start with getting to know the client and the inspiration behind the piece. We're making art together, so I want us to get to know each other a little bit. I then listen to the song many many times, getting a feel for the piece and figuring out how I can write something unique. Once I get a general feel for the melody and the cadence, I start noticing if certain phrases pop into my head and I build the lyrics out from there. Once that's done, I make sure to lay down what I have so far and refine until it's a killer main vocal.

  31. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  32. A: My studio setup is simple, but effective. I setup my Sm7b in a small closet that is completely deadened to make sure I get the purest takes.

  33. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  34. A: Adam Gontier of Three Days Grace is my favorite singer of all time and I love the production and mixing of Howard Benson. I also love singers from Kurt Kobain to Tim Mcllrath and Maynard James Keenan.

  35. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  36. A: The most common type of work I do for clients is toplining. A musician will come to me with a fully written instrumental and they want me to write vocals for their piece. These projects are fun because I can make sure that the melody and lyrics interact with one another in fun ways that compliment the music.
