Interview with StadiumBeats
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: My first album I put out was a Twitch themed instrumental album that was designed for streamers and creators to use. I completed every single part of it myself and I love when I pop into a stream on Twitch or YouTube and hear someone listening to it.
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: My first album with vocals on it!
Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?
A: N/A
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: The convenience of digital is amazing and the sound we can produce digitally has almost caught up to analog sound. So I gotta go with digital.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: I promise to work with you to give you exactly what you're looking for and a song that will make you smile.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: Being able to work with music in any capacity is a dream come true.
Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?
A: How long will this take? Can you master it too after mixing? Will you make sure the bass hits hard?
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: The biggest misconception is that people think they can just take a beat, sing on it, and then send it out and it'll sound perfect.
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: What vibe do you want the song to have? Which instruments do you want to stand out? Are you willing to communicate throughout the process?
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Make sure you tell the provider exactly what you're looking for and be ready to communicate with them throughout the process. It's YOUR song, so they won't want to do anything to it that you wouldn't be happy with.
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: Microphone, Guitar, Amp, Mixer, Headphones
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I've been doing this 100% self employed for 3 years, but have been working with music as a hobby for as long as I can remember.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: I love to make fun catchy songs with memorable melodies, but also can pump out a chill vibe too.
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: There are so many artists I'd love to work with, but if I had to pick one it would be A Day to Remember. They have inspired me so much and have such a fun vibe.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: My biggest tip is to make sure to sleep on a song before finishing it 100%. Give yourself a break from it and then listen to it with new ears the next day. You're sure to find something that you missed, or you'll be completely sure you're happy with it now.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: I usually work on Electronic Dance, lofi Hip-Hop, Pop, or EDM.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: My strongest skill is allowing each instrument in a song to carry its own weight. I make sure nothing gets lost and every detail you want heard to come through.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: I prefer a very clean style of production that makes songs sound as professional as possible. I can help make your melodies really stand out, provide a song that sounds full of life, and make sure that no instruments get left out in the mix.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: I like to listen to the song exactly as it's sent to me, then work on each individual track to make sure they all come together perfectly. Once I'm done with that, I'll listen to it on my phone, earbuds, and in my car to make sure it sounds great in multiple environments. Finally, I'll come back to it the next day to make sure I'm still satisfied with the final recording.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: My studio setup was all put together myself in my home. I mostly work at my computer with virtual instruments and software.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: Jeremy McKinnon, Andrew Wade, Marshmello, Timbaland, Dr. Dre, Tyler the Creator
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: I mostly work with clients on mixing their songs. They send me the instrument stems and I make it sound as good as possible. I master songs for artists as well. They send me their finished tracks and I make it sound studio quality and ready for all kinds of streaming services like Spotify and Apple Music.
