Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?
A: my sister ThaGataNegrra if you need a rapper with a different sound.
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: I grew up with analog very early but digital was just taking over so I was always in that medium. Digital obviously, for the convenience and portability of it.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: That I will work with them to make sure that they are satisfied with what they hear.
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: That it's all one-dimensional.
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Have a clear idea of what you want.
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: Family business. Started as an artist at 16, recorded my first EP, trained pianist since 3 years old. Attended Newark Boys Chorus School, and Arts High School, the oldest performing arts school in America. Went to college for music production, did a lot of interning at Warner bros, picked up many skills along the way.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: Hip-hop, R&B, trap, drill, pop.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: My ear.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: I bring uniqueness without going too far off the rails.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: I build upon the strengths of the track, in layers and then tweak it until it's what I hear in my head. When recording a vocalist I "get them there" by coaching, explain to them what I hear and help them execute it if necessary, also building upon their strengths.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: Logic on Mac Pro, AKG microphone, Roland keyboard, various interfaces
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: I get my inspiration from myself but the south's vibe has a lot of influence on me. I'm originally from the northeast so there is some of that too.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: The most common type of work I do is producing, arranging, and beatmaking.
