We specialize in producing and songwriting Indie Pop. We´ve been working together for over 6 years (since 2016) and worked with many artists that have reached top charts of Spotify.

On our productions, expect an original sound and catchy melodies as well as super groovy harmony and basses for our tracks.

We pay close attention to drums. We love punchy, round and groovy drums. Groovy bass, nice guitars and cool atmosphere synths. As well as cool harmonies (we can't leave them behind).

Interview with JY Recs

  1. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  2. A: What are your top 3 inspirations and their favorite tracks? What is your Spotify profile?

  3. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  4. A: Have a clear idea of your inspirations and listen to a lot of music, that'll make you grow as an artists and understand more things.

  5. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  6. A: Fender Telecaster, Interface (SSL2+ cause we love it), Rode Microphone NT1A, Precision Bass and Fender Mustang III

  7. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  8. A: We started in different areas, Hugo started playing guitar and singing. Armando started producing in his room. Eventually Armando worked in a studio with grammy awards all over Latin America and teamed up with Hugo to start making their own project and work with other projects

  9. Q: How would you describe your style?

  10. A: Fresh and old-school somehow

  11. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  12. A: The1975, they're fucking crazy and damn good at music.

  13. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  14. A: Work hard, if it doesn't feel good, it's not.

  15. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  16. A: Indie Pop music (Including indie rock and electronic pop)

  17. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  18. A: Sound design on guitars, bass, drums!

  19. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  20. A: Original sound design and original melodies as well as FX and groove.

  21. Q: What's your typical work process?

  22. A: We receive a demo track, we ask for inspirations (tracks and artists) and stems. After that we start working an idea and polish it throughout a week or two so when we get back to you, you have a really good quality sounding track. Then you'd give us a thumps up so we can continue working on it and finish some final details if needed (if you need to record material, we ask you to do it) and once we get it back, we mix them into the track in order to give you an idea of how it can be set up.

  23. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  24. A: We have a full treated room that gives us a really clear sound and helps us understand what's going on. We have great quality interfaces (SSL2+), headphones(ATM50X), Fender equipment and amps. We usually record guitar on amps to get an original and rich sound. We as well have cool mics that give us great recording material for the tracks.

  25. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  26. A: The 1975, 5SOS and Foster The People (maybe Paramore as well)

  27. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  28. A: We do complete productions, usually from an idea they already started. That gives us a clear idea of what they want with help of reference tracks and artists.
