Producer, singer-songwriter, & sync/film composer specializing in folk, alt pop & RnB, indie, & roots/soul. I'll help you find your unique & professional, radio/streaming-ready, "major label" sound at an indie rate. Let's make some feels & if you're in LA would love to do an in-person session!
Music producer, composer, & singer songwriter Alec Rosenheck (AKA Alec Rose) lives and works out of a rustic cabin studio in the wooded hills of Los Angeles with friends & animals making music as an artist and with/for artists, films, brands, and visual media. While he tends toward a folk-ish, indie & soulful sound and loves pulling the strings on his 1954 Martin nylon, he also enjoys writing/producing in alt-r&b, hip hop and pop genres. And although fully independent, he works closely with Prescription Songs and he is currently involved in projects for a number of artists. He has scored, sound designed, & mixed various independent short and feature length films and has had music featured in ads for AvantStay, ARN, CRRN, Monark Media, and more.

check_circleVerifiedI was very happy with the way Alec heard out my vision for the song and executed it. We worked remotely but I was able to communicate my specifications for my song which he made sure to include in the track. Had a good time working with him!

Excellent writer/producer. Professional and fun to work with. Very emotive and creative film score composer as well.

Interview with Alec Rose
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: 1954 martin nylon string, MacBook Pro, SM57 Microphone, Apollo interface, Headphones.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Mess around until you find something interesting.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: I typically work in folk-inspired worlds/genres that often spill into alt-pop, indie-pop, alt-RnB & roots/soul/country. I also do a lot of work in eerie, horror/suspense film scores.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: I would say my strongest skills are vocal comping and production, soundscaping (creating the layered/harmonious world in which our vocal lives), & melody/lyric writing.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: I'm very interested in vocal performance and production. The cadence, rhythm, tone and shape of a vocal is all very important to me as a record producer. It's the focal point of a song 9 times out of 10 unless its mostly instrumental (in which case something else often takes the vocal's place as the main-character melody). So as a general rule, I see the vocal (or the main melody) as the main character in the story. Everything in a production should be supporting the vocal. It's the world in which the character in our story lives.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: I'm a huge fan of the mixing and production philosophies of the likes of Shawn Everett, Phillip Weinrobe & Jack Antonoff. The only rule I abide by: get the music to a place where you truly love what you hear coming out of the speakers. It doesn't matter how you get there.
