    Interview with sj

    1. Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?

    2. A: I'm new to Soundbetter but I am really looking forward to connecting with different producers, artist and engineers on this platform.

    3. Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

    4. A: When I tell people that I’m a music producer often times they think that means that I only make beats (not that there is anything wrong with that). But that is probably the biggest misconception I deal with.

    5. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

    6. A: I'm really inspired by a lot of the musicians and bands that I grew up listening to as a kid. Artist such as The Beach Boys, Stevie Wonder, James Taylor, and Michael Jackson just to name a few. My favorite music producers when I was just getting started in production were the Neptunes!

    7. Q: Analog or digital and why?

    8. A: Whatever floats your boat!

    9. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

    10. A: My promise to my clients is that I will do everything in my absolute power to make sure that they are satisfied with the product that I give them.

    11. Q: What do you like most about your job?

    12. A: My favorite part about my job is knowing that the music that I work on has the potential to help other people with whatever it is they could be going through in their life and also hopefully has the potential to inspire someone else to create music.

    13. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

    14. A: I cant remember where I heard this tip but it has been one of my favorite tips that I always try to remember when I am working on music. "Good musicians play the song not their instruments, serve the song."

    15. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

    16. A: I've always thought it would be really awesome to make a record with Imogen Heap. She is such an incredible artist and she always seems to think outside of the box when it comes to her production style and arrangements.

    17. Q: What's your typical work process?

    18. A: I specialize in helping an artist get from a demo to a fully produced song.

    19. Q: What's your strongest skill?

    20. A: My strongest skill is helping an artist get to that place to where they can deliver a great performance when creating or recording a piece of music.

    21. Q: What do you bring to a song?

    22. A: I'm always looking to help bring out authenticity in a piece of music. I want the listener to connect with something that is true and honest and I want to help the artist create something that is real and honest to them.

    23. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

    24. A: Pop, country, rock, singer-songwriter, r&b and folk.

    25. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

    26. A: Full song production, acoustic and electric guitar, piano tracking. As well as vocal comping and tuning.
