Let's make your music Jam
Let's take your project to the next level. I can create your custom beat from scratch and program drums that thump just like Hip-Hop's top 40 hits. If you have recorded the project and just need it mixed, I will take your Pro Tools session or raw (audio files) to re-create your original recording session if it was recorded in another DAW. Once the project has been mixed, I will deliver the gang of four mixes (bounces) along with all of the trackouts (stems). I have worked on over 200 Pro Tools sessions. I have a mixing portfolio of my own to assure you that I will meet your expectations to deliver the best-desired results. Which is a high-quality stereo mix. Whether you listen to the track on monitors, headphones, earbuds, car speakers, or even simply over your iPhone. The final product will provide a pleasant audio experience and music you can take pride in when you decide to showcase it to the world and release it on digital distribution.

Interview with Davion Knight
Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?
A: How much do I charge? Answer: Depends on the client and service they need, usually I send them here to Sound better profile. What type of gear do I use? Answer: I tell them I mix in the box. I am upfront about this because the client may mistakenly try to correlate my gear and equipment to my level of skill.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: Mix engineers: Chris & Tom Lord Algae, Rick Rubin, Leslie Brathwraite, Phil Tan, Dave Pensado, MixedbyAli Producers: Timbaland, Scott Storch, Happy Perez, Dr. Luke, Pharrell
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: While I attended college I got to work on a pop record called War. In which I was the mixer and was graded on the rubrics of a professional mix.
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: I'm working on mixing a haunted choir Halloween track for a music library.
Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?
A: Sam Whips Allison
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: Both. However, If I had to choose, for my workflow and lifestyle I would have to go digital. But I enjoy analog as well.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: To do my best work to meet the vision the client has for their project to the best of my ability.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: The sense of being fulfilled and joyfully happy to do the work I love and enjoy.
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: When they ignorantly say this craft is easy, that it requires no technical skill. And due to the rise of AI, anybody and their grandmother can do this effortlessly. That it requires no fundamental education or experience.
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: What is the vision that you have as to how you want your mix to sound once it is completed? Do you possess every single audio file that makes up the entire session? Do you have the ProTools session? What is the endgame for this session? Will you release it on digital platforms? A sync placement? Personal project for school, church, or even charity event? I try to get all this info during our conversion stage. where we take time to interact and be social in and out of music & audio.
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Do your best to attain the highest quality recording that you can possibly get. Because a killer mix won't fix a poorly recorded session. It may enhance it, but not fix the issue that may be caused in the recording stage.
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: My MacBook, USB hub, iLok, Interface, Sennheiser headphones. This is all I need to mix in the box.
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I have been a DJ since 2006. I am a recent alumnus of an accredited University where I took professional mixing and audio production courses as part of my chosen trade.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: Cool, Calm, and Relaxed. But can be funny in a goofy type of way once I am comfortable with the clients and the environment. And still a professional demeanor.
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: Devin the Dude. He's just such a real person that the vibe in the studio would be lit.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Do your best to stay in the -6db when recording vocals and/or instruments. Not only will you avoid clipping into the red. This way you also leave headroom for both the mixing and mastering engineers.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: HIP-HOP R&B Cinematic
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: Communicating with key collaborators. Conversing with them to get better details what is my role in the entire project, and to know where my value and input are needed and where it is not. Same thing with suggestions, I never give them unless asked for them specifically.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: From a mix engineer standpoint: Only how the audio, acoustics, and sounds are presented. From a Producer standpoint: The composition, the arrangement, and overall vision of what the artist intentionally wants to express.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: It's a very methodical one. Depending on the task at hand coming from the client. Whether it's tracking, mixing, or beat-making. I like to make sure the prep work is in place so the process can be as fun and productive as possible. At the end of the day, we want to feel accomplished and joyful doing the work we love.
