Interview with Gaston Gonzalez
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I started learning at the young age of 12, now at 26 I've been pursuing my passion for more than half my life, and I couldn't be happier about the decisions that brought me here.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: A good mix will take you further than a good master, and a good recording trumps both.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: Most of my recent works have been in the indie pop/rock scene, but, whenever I get to work on my own personal projects I tend to gravitate towards soul, R&B and jazz fusion.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: Handwork, strong ethics and a soul crushing lookout for perfection.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: Proper db balance before pan, then compression and eq, only then can I have a proper vision of what we're working on.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I work from a home studio, but I do get constant access to professional studios to check final mixes before handing out a finished mix.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: I take inspiration from all eras of music and most styles, from early jazz and blues to modern soul and rap all the way to EDM and rock.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: I ensure professional and industry grade mixing and mastering services for my clients, always making sure they're happy with what they're paying for.
