Spacy, trippy, dream-like Hip-hop, R&B, soul, and funk instrumentals. That's what I'm about. I write, produce, and mix professional hazy existence life soundtracks. I am available remotely via zoom sessions to vibe & help you create your own dream-like lucid state in song form.
I've been working with music as a hobby, freelance professional, and a passion for 15 years now.
In that time, I have invested countless hours into the ability to create that moment in the song where it's almost over, and you're sad it's coming to an end.
I find that reggae basslines, funky drum rhythms, and an ethereal synth or two really sets that mood well.
If you find that mood useful for your film, commercial, or tv show, I offer fast turnarounds and unlimited revisions.
Need a wingman? Need help fleshing out your idea and turning it into a professional song? Send me an email and we'll see if our tastes align.

Interview with The Catalyzt
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: I mixed and mastered an incredible album by a hip hop artist by the name of Cam Culture. The name of the album is "Survived Nights." Here is the link: https://soundcloud.com/safecamp/sets/survived-nights?si=3ecd6cc6b86748da9e495800b30330d8&utm_source=clipboard&utm_medium=text&utm_campaign=social_sharing I also just released my debut instrumental album, "Love Dreams," on all streaming platforms. I'm extremely proud of it. It's the kind of music I want to hear.
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: I just released my debut instrumental album! It's called 'Love Dreams' and you can stream it here: https://linkin.bio/thecatalyzt I plan to release all of my instrumentals on all streaming platforms while I pursue licensed and freelance work for my music.
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: Yes!
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: I promise to deliver a high quality, professional instrumental production that you are happy to pay for.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: Chasing that goosebumps feeling that music gives you...and catching it somehow. Nothing beats it.
Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?
A: Can you help me with this idea? All I have is a melody/topline... Answer: Sure! Don't talk to me, I'm lucid dreaming...
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: That it's a pipe dream and why am I even doing this...
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: What are you in the mood for? Where is this piece of music going to end up? What's the turnaround time you're looking for? Did you hear something in my audio examples that you think you'll find useful for your project?
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Talk to me first. The most important part of our process will be to see if our "vibes" align. If they do, the rest should be pretty easy and fun.
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: A midi keyboard. an audio interface. some headphones. A laptop. Omnisphere. I
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: 15 years of working with local artists wherever I happen to be. I've always been good enough to get work somehow.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: A mix of all the music I grew up on...R&B Soul, Hip-Hop, reggae, jazz, and....something else more spacey than I care to describe. My music makes you want to float away somewhere. It's a dream you don't want to wake up from.
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: SZA...she's amazing and she would sound amazing on my beats.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Don't force it. Don't overthink it. Feel it. Chase that feeling.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: Hip-Hop, R&B Soul, Trap, 90's style R&B (Thank you Jodeci)
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: I am fantastic at coming up with drum and basslines that just work. It could be a one or two note bassline, or something that compliments the structure of the song best..
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: I bring an emphatic sense of groove to any song. It moves your feet or nobody eats...
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: I usually start with a bassline...basslines are my favorite part of a song. A good, melodic, catchy bassline is always a great start. Piano is next..whether the it ends up in the song or not, fleshing out the chord progression is key. Drums are next, Working with and around that bassline and melody. After that, as few elements as possible to get the full instrumental together. KISS is the philosphy...
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: Enough software synths and FX to make your song happen. May favorites being Omnisphere, Uhe Diva, Tone2 Synths (I own and use them all), The Soundtoys FX bundle, and Geist 2 for Drums and sampling.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: Lauryn Hill is my idol. SZA & SIR are two of my favorites nowadays. HER is amazing. Sparse trap beats with incredible rapping/singing i.e. Roddy Rich inspires me.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: I'm a wingman and vibe guy who knows my way around a studio. If you have sound or a mood in mind, maybe a melody or a lyric to build off of, I can be the creative finisher of that idea. Lots of my best songs have come from a client humming their idea over the phone to me, and then I handle the rest to their satisfaction.
