Ben Bave on SoundBetter

Delivering clear, energetic and professional mixes with fast communication and on a budget.

I'm a young and dedicated Producer and Mix Engineer for Pop, Indie and Rock artists.

Overall I aim to provide a professional sound to help your music perform well on music streaming platforms while keeping the costs low. It's a great shame that so many talented artists and producers are excluded from success because of the price of professional mixing and mastering, and that is what I wish to change.

I regularly utilise lots of studio grade plugins by Universal Audio, Plugin Alliance, Izotope and Native Instruments.

Mastering:
This will usually take me less than a day. I'd appreciate a link to a reference track (i.e. a released song, usually by an artist you wish to sound like) so I can get an idea what you're going for with your sound.

Mixing and Mastering:
Again I would appreciate a reference track, or even an album. I like to take extra care preparing, I usually listen to the songs you send me a few times before I start the mix, hence the extra time needed.

Producing:
If you think we'd be a good fit, feel free to reach out and we can discuss

Got to give Ben credit not only for his outstanding skills as a music engineer but also for the time that he gives to communicate with the artist, its rare these days that you'll find someone willing to listen and put total effort into making your art sound the way you have always wanted for such a affordable price!

Ben is a quality mixing and mastering engineer, his prices make the experience well worth it if you need to get your music that radio-ready sound!

He has mixed 3 songs for me so far and all 3 have been nothing short of outstanding!

Interview with Ben Bave

  1. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  2. A: I bring a passion for the energy of the performance in your song. Some engineers and producers will suck the life out of a track by over processing it, but you'll hear in my mix examples that I am insistent on enhancing the raw energy that already exists in your song.

  3. Q: What's your typical work process?

  4. A: For Mixing, I like to spend some time before the mix listening to any references that have been provided. I want to get a clear picture of your vibe and music taste before I begin, instead of treating every song the same.

  5. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  6. A: I have a pair of Adam T8V Studio monitors, as well as a small pair of Presonus Eris 3.5s to give me a complete picture of what I'm hearing. My room is treated to provide a quality environment for mixing. I also have a guitar amp, pedal board and a selection of guitars for when I need to contribute to a song creatively. I have a wide range of the highest quality plugins, from Universal Audio, Native Instruments, Plugin Alliance, Brainworks. I use Pro Tools to mix and record, and Logic Pro X to produce in.

  7. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  8. A: I'm a big fan of Steve Albini, who takes a very technical approach to his work. Specifically, I like that he doesn't feel the need to influence or affect the artists work without good reasons for doing so. Instead he likes to find ways to enhance and capture the energy of the performance, which is the most important part of a song.

  9. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  10. A: My work varies massively. I'm most active as a mix engineer, working to deadlines to deliver singles, EPs or albums for the bands and artists I work with. I also am a producer, working closely with artists every step of the way to get their music to the highest standard.
