Interview with Micky Stoner
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: Created an entire rock opera with my former band Erich Zann. Produced the entire album all thru the technical processes as well as management. The album was mastered by Reuben Cohen at Lurssen Mastering (California) one of the best studios in the world with credits that extend even beyond the hall of fame of pop and rock.
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: Sennheiser Md441, Urei 1176, Any cool 80s synth, Tascam 244 and a bunch of cassettes and cables...
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: Started production at my bedroom studio with 14 and that was 24 years ago... never looked back!
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: Pop and rock music, both with a retro or futuristic feel.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: Whole planification of the production process and attention to detail.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: A retro-future-nostalgic feeling from having studied the history of pop music since the 50s, including the obscure acts, idols and also one hit wonders and also derived from my cinema & pop culture love.

Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I have a full complete hybrid setup working with Logic, ProTools, Waves & Izotope on the software end over Antelope Orion converters. A 24 channel Soundcraft K1 is the main analogue console at the studio which includes also a Revox A700 reel to reel. We got Universal Audio, Sennheiser, Shure, Sontronics, DBX outboard and mics as well as some secret vintage sauce. Drum recording space and a variety of VOX, Orange, Marshall & Fender amps.

A: Prince, David Bowie, The Weeknd, ELO, The Rolling Stones, Lady Gaga... everyone!

A: Full song production management, from planning to distribution, including of course recording, mixing and mastering.
