Interview with Harmologik

  1. Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?

  2. A: I got assigned the production of many of the EDM tracks released on Streambeats by Harris Heller, mostly containing future house and drum and bass tracks. The entirety of the releases reached more than 200K streams on spotify.

  3. Q: What are you working on at the moment?

  4. A: I'm releasing plenty of remixes of popular songs remixes and singles on my main project. @genesisdrivemusic on instagram.

  5. Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?

  6. A: Not really, but I'd love to meet other like-minded sellers as I get more used to the platform.

  7. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  8. A: I like digital for it's convenience and modern sound but also analog for it's fun, accuracy and more retroish sound. I'll go for digital.

  9. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  10. A: I guarantee quality over everything in my production and my attention.

  11. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  12. A: Freedom of choice and pure enjoyment of doing what I love to do the most!

  13. Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

  14. A: - Do you have samples of your work I can check out before buying? -Yes! You can find my main project "Genesis Drive" on instagram, soundcloud, youtube and spotify. I can send you audio files of my recent work too.

  15. Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

  16. A: Some artists are still 'scared' of hiring ghost producers, they think it's dishonest, or that they will lose their distinct sound by externalizing production to a professional. We are not pointless money pits, we serve a purpose by bringing ideas, developing concepts and saving quality time.

  17. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  18. A: 1) Which length the track should have? 2) Do you have any references as for what are you looking for? (Youtube, Spotify, Soundcloud). 3) Provide me with specific details about the arrangement.

  19. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  20. A: Always have your project ideas well organised so the producer can easily digest the information. Communication is #1, have a good manner, be respectful and reply timely. That will always be highly appreciated by anyone you work with!

  21. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  22. A: Laptop, headphones, midi keyboard a cool shaped rock and a Daft Punk poster.

  23. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  24. A: I've been making music for almost 7 years, and I've started my ghost producer career back in 2019 offering my services on fiverr.com and selling full tracks on edmghostproducer.com

  25. Q: How would you describe your style?

  26. A: Sophisticated, organic, energetic.

  27. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  28. A: I'd like to work with Mac de Marco. He's a master of creativity and musical landscape.

  29. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  30. A: In order to get the loudest mix possible without compromising sound quality, make sure to place every single instrument correctly in the mix. Sub basses (<200 Hz) and kick drum always in mono, percussion on the sides, and synths/instruments mainly in stereo. Loud tracks naturally sound better to our ears.

  31. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  32. A: Tech house, future bass, hip hop, pop and drum and bass.

  33. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  34. A: Adaptability for sure. I know how to get the vibe the client is looking for, and I have no issues at all when it comes to explore different styles and genres.

  35. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  36. A: Everything from mixing quality to arrangement depth. My sound's character is quite vibrant, energetic, modern and punchy.

  37. Q: What's your typical work process?

  38. A: After the customer made clear every essential aspect of the track to produce (length, genre, mood, refecences), I get to start working on the track, sending progress samples in order to receive useful input from the client.

  39. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  40. A: My setup is simple yet effective. I find very handy to know I've got quality equipment to my disposal. I've got my Novation launchpad mk3, a MidiPlus 3 Octave keyboard, a pair of KRK Rokit monitors and a Pronomic CM-100S microphone.

  41. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  42. A: I enjoy a lot of rising, underrated producers and DJs such as Blue Clair, Matroda, Vibe Chemistry and Wilkinson. I frequently come back to classics from KSHMR, Blasterjaxx, Swedish House Mafia and Avicii for some inspiration too.

  43. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  44. A: Tech house and Future Bass are deffinitely the most popular genres amongst my clients.
