My goal is to make your work something professionally creative, sophisticated but as natural and real as possible. Give me the opportunity to do it and you decide.
I have been working for more than twenty years in the world of production and live music in different musical styles. Particularly pop, rock, folk, Brazilian and Latin music (melodic, trap, reggae, etc.). I have worked with different artists and I am dedicated to both the pre-production and arrangement stage, as well as the recording, mixing and mastering if the work requires it. I consider myself a person involved in each project as if I were the only one and I try to listen, give my opinion and think about possible musical options together with each client.
My rate is really affordable!! since I am new to this platform, but I guarantee top-notch work!

Interview with Paul Parlin
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: The third album of Marcenaro 'Naturales'. I recorded all the guitars and did artistic production. He is a new uncomming artist and I love his music.
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: Digital for general production and mixing. Analog for mastering. Because for the mixing the digital thing aloows you to try several things, experiment and so. But in mastering the process is more specific and tecnic.
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: I am working with Eva, for a Sony production. With Marcenaro, in his fourth album. For a Netflix production. I am working in my own music too! and a few more production and recordings at the moment.
Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?
A: Yes. Several ones. But one of my favourite trumpet players is Sergio Wagner and is here!
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: I promise them that they will be very happy with the final work and that it will be extremely professional.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: The crativeness and looking for the 'audio'.
Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?
A: However, the work is not going to be extended more than necessary. everything will be within the reasonable limits stipulated, depending on the work to be done.
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: Sometimes I get too involved with my projects, I am a very perfectionist and I dedicate a lot of time to them, non-stop. That is one frequently problem. Overwork
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: Many questions, but the first ones will surely have to do with the material to be worked on. If you know what you want or have doubts, to know where to place me as a guitarist or producer. For example, if you want something more classic, I would ask for references or if you want something more experimental or playful, what do you have in mind.
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: I would suggest that you look for the right person technically but who is also a professional with whom you can discuss ideas from a creative vision based on what the music requires and what he has in mind. That is, someone open to proposals but who can also suggest ideas.
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: My laptop, my interface, a guitar, headphones and my Api 550!
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I have been doing this for twenty years now. I am a professional musician with graduate degree, so my path is both academic and popular.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: I think my style is a very classic one, but with elements and details that make the difference and put the work in other level.
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: Billi Eilish because of the popularrity and massivenes, or Saint Vincent because of the creativeness.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Learn the keyboard commands, or maybe you don't need that new plugin to make better music. I forgot! Always make backup copies!
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: Pop, soul and pop are my ussual types of music. But I consider myself as a world music creator.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: My greatest strength is my creations with the guitar and the ability to complement music in a solid but austere way.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: I try to provide creativity and solidity to the original proposal, adding technical and aesthetic quality to the product. It is also very important to listen to the customer and ensure that they are satisfied and happy with the product.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: 1. Understand the music and the customer 2. Propose alternatives in aesthetics 3. Create a recording session and test these options 4. Choose with the client. I use a folder on the nine so that all the files are available at all times. 5. Redo if necessary
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: Well. Its a small studio but very functional. I work with the toppest brands like Universal Audio, Adam Audio, Logic pro X, Fender Deluxe reverb, Fender Stratocaster, Fender Telecaster, Gibson Les Paul Standard, D'angelico, Guild Aristocrat, Audiotechnica, Akg and Neumann Mics, Neural Audio.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: Rick Rubin, Max Martin, George Martin, Quincy Jones, Lee Ritenour, Mark Lettieri.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: I generally produce the music and record guitars and basses. I also offer the possibility of producing the beat with or without a drummer, doing post production, mixing and mastering. But my differential is working together with the client, understanding and creating based on what the music requires.
