Mix & Master Engineer

Mauricio on SoundBetter

Sound Engineer with experience in audio production, recording, mixing and mastering. Expert in music editing software (Ableton LIVE, Pro Tools, Cubase, Luna, also Bandlab but is not my preffered). Passionate about sound creation and high-quality music production. Also an artist called "Faum".

I´m Mauricio, (Faum as artist). 9 years experience making music, 5 of them focused on being a sound engineer (Rec, mix & master). I´ve been in studio working with Los Bunkers, Jere Klein, Gino Mella, Loyaltty, Aura Bae, Basel el Karim, Daniel Muñoz y los Marujos, Martin Acertijo. All artist from Chile.

My service consist in Mix & Master. But I also give music production works and song writting for anything genre of music you want.

I made a workflow for myself where I can give you the work done in a few days. Depending on what you want, if it is Mix it won't take me more than 5 days, to get it ready for you, and Master no more than 2 days (Obviously if it's a full production it would take more time).

Interview with Mauricio

  1. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  2. A: how are you? what is all about the project you have? what can we do to make it come alive?

  3. Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?

  4. A: Some time ago I made a EP by myself, called "Mau". I´m really proud of what I made, especially because it was a liberation for me in that moment of my life. I was the artist and engineer.

  5. Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?

  6. A: Mecchi Piereti, really lovely person and because of she i knew this page.

  7. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  8. A: I promise you that the idea you have in mind will be taken from there and made it a reality

  9. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  10. A: Enjoy the differents kind of music people made and show me and apprecciate every single arrangement

  11. Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

  12. A: I´m not a DJ!

  13. Q: How would you describe your style?

  14. A: It´s something like urban latin alternative electronic, weird I know.

  15. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  16. A: The first one that came to my mouth is Flume, I just love how he works and what he makes.

  17. Q: What are you working on at the moment?

  18. A: Right now i´m working with Asul a new mexican artist, she´s doing an album and i´m her producer/engineer.

  19. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  20. A: Make it easy. Somethings the easy way is more satisfying than the hard way, and better remunerated.

  21. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  22. A: I´ve been doing this 9 years. The first 4 just producing, the last 5 learning basically sound engineering, calculations, interconnections, microphones, cables, analog, digital, etc.

  23. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  24. A: I´m actually working on urban music, electronic, pop, synthpop, granular synthesis. It´s like Flume, Porter Robinson, Nsqk, Taylor Swift, 21 Pilots.

  25. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  26. A: I would say that my strongest skill is not to rest until what we are working is done.

  27. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  28. A: I think I bring the "dream to reality", it is basically, you tell me the idea and I do everything possible to make it real

  29. Q: What's your typical work process?

  30. A: I usually start with a melody and some rythm, always trying to make something melodic and weird. after I got that idea I do a preview mix, just to record some vocals on it, and then make a final mix with all the instruments and sounds I want on it. Finally I do the master.

  31. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  32. A: I always try to keep it basic (just for future trips). Just now i got an SSL2 interface, 550/551 MXL Mics for records (good duo), a headset behringer hpm1110 and a KZM in ear, Pocket operator Robot (I love to try rhythms without having to connect to anything), Korg Nanokontrol2 (I love it), and a midi keyboard. Mostly I work in Ableton, but also I use Pro Tools, Cubase, and Bandlab.

  33. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  34. A: My most biggest inspiration right now is Porter Robinson, Flume & Nsqk,

  35. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  36. A: A complete production, like produce, record, mix & master. Always asking my client, what seeks to create or what is based so that we bring his idea to life.
