Interview with Cameron Conner
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: The brand new LONG ISLAND EP "the freedom of being young". I was the producer, songwriter, guitarist, mixer and engineer for the entire EP. Working with my best friends on this set of songs that really meant a lot to us was so exciting, and the end product has been even better - from touring around the country to plays on the BBC and from industry legend John Kennedy. It's been a wild month!
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: I'm currently touring around with LONG ISLAND - in-between that I am working on my own PhD around music production and getting started on the next major LONG ISLAND project.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: I love being able to bring an artists vision to life - seeing them excited about a track that's turned into the sound they were envisioning is always incredible.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: Clean, modern indie-pop with an electronic edge - I love making something that combines all of mine or the artists favourite influences.
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: Fickle Friends! Their production and songwriting are incredible!
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: A drone note in a vocal harmonies can really help punch a chorus' vocal to the forefront
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: Sitting down with an artist and figuring out their direction for the song, discussing influences and the vibe they wish to create before beginning to lay down ideas on Ableton. From this producing the song collaboratively is so important! Letting the artist have a major input on whether the direction of the track is heading where they thought, before laying down vocals and producing the final outcome!

A: Production work of all kinds - whether you're looking for an entire track to be produced from your demo, to producing out the vocal that you have recorded, to tuning and comping tracks.
