I am an independent singer/songwriter who has worked with artists like Arc North, Woodrow Piney, & Alexis France. I am also an alternative pop artist with music available on major music platforms, however I am not at all limited to working in those genres. I look forward to working with you!
Hello SoundBetter Community!
My name is Killian Hough. I am an independent singer/songwriter based in San Diego, California. I have been writing songs for almost a decade now. The majority of the work that I have done that you can find online has been for myself as an artist, however I am looking forward to expanding that. I have worked with artists in several different genres and I cannot wait to work with more! Songwriting is my passion!
I work within all budgets, so do not hesitate to reach out. I myself have an extremely tight budget when I look to hire collaborators, therefore I will reciprocate that equal understanding with my clients.
I believe that communication is key when working with others, so if you are like me in that way, we are a great fit. Songwriting is a creative process and sometimes communication can become really abstract, which is fine! The important thing to remember is to keep communicating until everyone is on the same page. There is nothing wrong with asking questions etc. Never fear! Communication is here!!!
Thank you so much for visiting my page, and I look forward to working you!

Interview with Killian Hough
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: I am really proud of my album release “Spiked Arnold Palmers”. I am also proud of my collaboration with Woodrow Piney on “Not Giving Up”. You can stream both of these projects on major music platforms! ;)
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: I am working on a few concept albums.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: I honestly love how therapeutic the process can be. Music is a beautiful way to express oneself.
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: The biggest misconception is that songwriters can work like factory workers. It’s a creative process and needs to have that space. Once you start treating it like a corporate machine, the quality will suffer 9/10 times.
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Communication is key! :)
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: I would take my MacBook, Scarlett Solo Bundle (mic, audio interface, headphones), and my Epiphone Hummingbird Acoustic - Electric Ukulele!
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: If I ever get to work as a singer/songwriter on a Zedd or Calvin Harris track, I will have achieved my teenage EDM dreams. Lana Del Rey & Taylor Swift are two of the best songwriters of all time, so I would also be incredibly honored to ever have the chance to work with them.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: I usually work in the alternative pop and electronic genres, however I am not limited to them.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: I like to be as collaborative and communicative as possible. Outside of those basic principles, the process is pretty individualistic because every project is different.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: My setup is quaint yet effective. I have used the Scarlett Solo Bundle for years and have achieved the utmost quality from it. Most of the vocals on my professionally released music were actually recorded using that equipment.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: I am inspired by too many to list, however Lana Del Rey & The Neighbourhood are definitely frontrunners in the who inspire me category.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: The most common type of work that I do is writing lyrics & melodies. I also record vocals often. I find myself looking to collaborate more frequently than being a part of something purely transactional - just for hire.
