Interview with justbea

  1. Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?

  2. A: One project I’m especially proud of is winning “Best New Genre” in the 2018 Captain Plugins contest with producer Mau Montekio for our track LoveBlind. I wrote and performed the song, while Mau produced, which blends Waltz, Acoustic, Pop and Electronic elements in a 3/4 time signature. Creating something that experimental yet emotionally grounded and having it recognized internationally was a milestone that reminded me how powerful it is to take risks and trust the music.

  3. Q: What are you working on at the moment?

  4. A: I’m currently releasing new singles on my Spotify profile and working on several projects as a ghost singer and ghost songwriter. It’s been a powerful mix of personal artistic growth and helping other artists bring their music to life.

  5. Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?

  6. A: I’m new to SoundBetter, so I’m still discovering the amazing professionals in this community. There are many talented industry artists here who I would love to connect with and hopefully build strong creative partnerships in the future.

  7. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  8. A: Both. haha I’m from 1995, the tail end of the Millennial generation, so I grew up surrounded by analog gear while also watching digital tools evolve into incredibly powerful creative partners. Nothing replaces the character of a well-recorded analog signal with the right equipment, yet the accessibility and precision of modern software can achieve results that once required millions of dollars in hardware. The ideal workflow is the balance between the two: the warmth of analog guiding the clarity and versatility of digital.

  9. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  10. A: My promise is to treat every project with honesty, intention and full commitment. I bring my best to each song, shaping vocals or writing with the same care I give to my own music. You can expect transparency, strong communication and a genuine dedication to helping your track reach its highest potential, both emotionally, technically and artistically.

  11. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  12. A: What I love most about my job is the freedom it gives me. I get to work with what I truly love at any moment, whether I’m on stage performing or in the studio creating. Music lets me move between worlds, express emotion, explore ideas and connect with people in a way nothing else does.

  13. Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

  14. A: Clients usually ask about my workflow and how many revisions are included. My answer is that I keep the process clear and collaborative: we start with a demo to align the vision, I adjust anything needed, and only then I move to the final recording. My goal is always to deliver vocals or songwriting that match exactly what the client imagined, with a smooth and professional experience from start to finish.

  15. Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

  16. A: The biggest misconception is that my job is simply stepping up to a microphone and singing. In truth, there’s an entire creative and technical process behind every performance: shaping tone, interpreting emotion, building harmonies, refining phrasing, adjusting dynamics and aligning everything with the client’s artistic vision. The final vocal may sound effortless, but getting there requires intention, preparation and a lot of detail work.

  17. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  18. A: My headphones, my microphone, my laptop, my audio interface and an infinite solar-powered battery. That setup would keep me writing and recording for as long as needed. Now the real question is… does this island have internet? Hahaha

  19. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  20. A: I ask about the vision behind the song, the emotional tone they want to convey and any references that capture the style they’re aiming for. I also clarify the project’s purpose and discuss vocal preferences, language, harmonies and production needs. Understanding these details helps me shape a performance or topline that aligns perfectly with their artistic direction.

  21. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  22. A: Choose someone whose work aligns with the emotion and quality you want your music to carry. Look for clear communication, consistency and a creative voice that elevates your ideas rather than just executing them. A good provider should respect deadlines, listen carefully and bring both technical skill and genuine artistic intention to the project. When those elements meet, the music naturally becomes stronger, clearer and more meaningful.

  23. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  24. A: I started singing at six years old, training in classical music and performing in national competitions and festivals across Brazil. During that time, I won multiple first–place awards, including the title of Best Brazilian Child Singer. At sixteen, I shifted into Pop, debuting on The X Factor UK and later appearing on several national TV programs in Brazil. That transition opened the door to my work as a songwriter, and I began studying composition seriously, eventually writing more than 200 songs. Today, I continue my career as a pop artist while also working as a ghost singer and songwriter for clients worldwide. My experience includes winning the 2018 Captain Plugins competition, delivering multilingual vocals in a wide range of genres and building a consistent track record of high–quality, industry-ready performances.

  25. Q: How would you describe your style?

  26. A: I’m highly adaptive. My foundation is Pop, which gives structure and commercial clarity to everything I do, but my classical background adds control, nuance and precision. Brazilian and Latin music also influence my phrasing, rhythm and emotional delivery. This blend creates a unique sound shaped by Brazilian diversity, where technique meets instinct and tradition meets modern pop energy.

  27. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  28. A: I would love to work with Lady Gaga in any capacity, whether writing, recording or collaborating vocally. Her creativity and professionalism are on another level, and I admire how she breathes art with total authenticity. She’s a pioneer who isn’t afraid to reinvent herself, and that fearless approach to music is something that inspires me every day.

  29. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  30. A: Stay true to your artistic voice before following every technical rule. When you let honesty guide the creative process, the music carries real emotion and connects more deeply with people. Technique is essential, of course, but the heart should lead and the tools should follow.

  31. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  32. A: I usually work on Pop, Hyperpop, EDM and other electronic subgenres, but I also record a lot of Funk, Sertanejo, RnB and Latin music. My experience across these styles allows me to adapt my voice and writing to the energy, emotion and commercial direction each project needs.

  33. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  34. A: My strongest skill is my adaptability. I move easily between genres and moods, bringing both professionalism and a distinct Latin energy that adds character to every performance. My classical background gives me vocal control and cohesion, while my contemporary experience keeps everything fresh, expressive and commercially sharp. It’s a blend that allows me to shape my voice to exactly what each song needs.

  35. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  36. A: I bring emotion you can feel and professionalism you can trust. My vocals are shaped by over two decades of experience, blending technical precision with genuine expression. Whether I'm writing or singing, I aim to elevate the song’s message, giving it clarity, depth and a voice that resonates. Every project receives high-quality vocals and a thoughtful artistic touch, so the music carries not only sound, but intention.

  37. Q: What's your typical work process?

  38. A: For songwriting, I begin by defining the theme and mood for both lyrics and melody with the client. Depending on the creative direction, I can deliver a demo focusing on either the lyric or the melody first. Once the client approves the writing, I move on to the final recording, adding all necessary doublers, ad-libs and harmonies to achieve a polished, cohesive result. When the client is fully satisfied, I deliver all RAW vocal stems, and I can also provide the Ableton Live 11 project file if needed. For singing, the workflow is similar. I start with a demo of the main vocal so the client can confirm tone, style and interpretation. After we align on the performance, I complete the full vocal production, including doublers, ad-libs and harmonies. Final delivery includes all RAW stems, with the Ableton Live 11 session available upon request.

  39. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  40. A: I record with a Rode NT1-A microphone, a U-Phoria UM2 interface and Ableton Live 11 in my studio, ensuring clean, high-quality vocal capture suitable for commercial-ready productions.

  41. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  42. A: My main artistic inspiration is Lady Gaga. Her writing skills, vocal technique and deep musical knowledge shaped the way I approach my own craft. I admire the power and strength she brings as an artist who genuinely lives for music, and that same commitment influences the emotion, versatility and precision I bring to every project.

  43. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  44. A: I'm a singer and songwriter with over two decades of experience in the music industry. I've written more than 200 songs for clients worldwide and have been hired to record far more as a ghost singer and ghostwriter. My background includes winning multiple Brazilian music contests and the 2018 Captain Plugins competition, as well as national TV appearances and cuts featured on The X Factor UK. I deliver multilingual vocals and toplines across Pop, Hyperpop, EDM, Funk, Sertanejo, RnB and Latin music, bringing a wide soprano range, whistle tones and strong stylistic versatility. My work focuses on high quality delivery, emotional clarity and commercial polish.
