Cinematic composer, with a big sound that draws viewers or players into the film or game world...
My name is Stephen Wilson but my composer/artist name is Stephen Houston. My favorite music to make is hybrid orchestral, epic tracks for video games and film!
I'd be happy to score your visuals and if you link me a reference track, not to copy but to emulate the energy... I can do that. Or let me know what story you're telling... and I'll make music that evokes that very feeling for your viewers.
Need music for:
- Fantasy, Adventure, Action or Horror?
- Video game (RPG, MMO, Platformer, FPS or RTS)?
- Film/movie?
- TV show?
Need music in the style of:
- Orchestral?
- Hybrid Orchestral?
- Cinematic?
- Celtic?
- or a mixture of these?
In any of these cases, I can definitely help! Reach out and we can discuss the details : )
Would love to hear from you. Click the contact button above to get in touch.
Interview with Stephen Houston
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: I am currently working on an incredible video game, composing the soundtrack. Can't say much else as I'm under NDA!
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: I most often make soundtrack music for video games and video game related content.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: Usually epic tracks. But I do love to work on more chill, yet dramatic and tense tracks.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: Hybrid orchestral composition.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: I bring a certain depth and vast energy to the project.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: My process depends on the client's needs. If a video already exists I would score it to its exact needs. If not, I would use a reference track or description of the energy needed to get the right feel. Then I'd start with the instrument that first comes to mind or has been requested and I would build the track around that. Finetuning it until I've achieved what's needed.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I have just gotten a fantastic laptop for work. I use Cubase 12 Pro, with several different instrument libraries and synthesizers, such as EastWest ComposerCloud, Omnisphere and more.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: I'm vastly inspired by Hans Zimmer, Two Steps From Hell and Really Slow Motion. Lesser known is CRZYSND and Michael Yang, these guys really inspire me every day.
