Interview with Bernardo Bitencourtte

  1. Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?

  2. A: One project I’m especially proud of is "Move You Make" by Etrus. I was responsible for Production, Sound Design, Mixing and Mastering. It was a unique challenge as we combined a danceable groove with a slower tempo and a pop-oriented arrangement. Seeing the final result and how well it was received was incredible!

  3. Q: What are you working on at the moment?

  4. A: I'm currently working on new music for my project Karpan, co-productions with emerging artists, and providing mixing/mastering services for multiple projects.

  5. Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?

  6. A: At the moment, I’m building connections, but I always ensure that clients get the best resources for their needs!

  7. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  8. A: Both! I use digital tools for flexibility and precision, but analog-inspired plugins and processing for warmth and character. The key is knowing how to combine the best of both worlds.

  9. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  10. A: I promise to treat every project with the same level of passion and dedication as if it were my own music. You can expect clear communication, high-quality results, and a commitment to your artistic vision.

  11. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  12. A: I love transforming ideas into reality and helping artists express themselves through music. Seeing a track go from an initial concept to a fully finished product is always rewarding.

  13. Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

  14. A: Q: "Can you make my track sound like [insert famous artist]?" A: "Yes, I can match the energy and style while keeping it unique to your identity!"

  15. Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

  16. A: Many people think that mixing or mastering alone can fix a poorly produced track, but a song’s foundation needs to be solid from the start. That’s why I always work closely with clients to ensure every stage of the production is strong.

  17. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  18. A: 1. What’s your vision for the track? 2. Do you have any references or inspirations? 3. What’s the final destination of the song (streaming, festival, club, radio, etc.)? 4. Are there any specific elements you want to highlight or modify?

  19. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  20. A: Make sure to clearly define your goals and expectations before starting a project. Having good references and an open line of communication will ensure the best possible result.

  21. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  22. A: 1. MacBook Pro 2. Antelope Audio Zen Go Synergy Core 3. Sennheiser HD600 4. A MIDI controller 5. A solar-powered charger (to keep making music forever!)

  23. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  24. A: I started professionally in 2015, with releases including Som Livre and Sony Music. Since then, I have worked with labels such as Blanco y Negro Music, Rain Sign, OMNES Records, gaining hundreds of thousands of streams and support from major artists. My journey has been a mix of self-taught experience, collaborations and deep research into the music business.

  25. Q: How would you describe your style?

  26. A: My style is a fusion of emotional melodies, driving grooves, and immersive sound design. I always strive to create music that connects emotionally with the listener while keeping the energy high on the dancefloor.

  27. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  28. A: All of them are my references! They have so many special characteristics that it would be difficult to choose just one.

  29. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  30. A: In a production, first build your "sound palette", put everything you think is related to that idea, just like a color palette for a painting. Then, like a sculptor, remove the excesses so that the work takes shape, and with precision polish everything to reach the excellent final result.

  31. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  32. A: I specialize in electronic music (including House, Tech House, Progressive House, Melodic Techno, and Deep House) but I also work on pop, indie, and experimental electronic projects.

  33. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  34. A: My strongest skill is translating an idea into a fully developed, high-quality track. Whether through sound design, mixing, or arrangement, I know how to balance creativity with technical precision to make a song sound professional and stand out.

  35. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  36. A: I bring a fresh perspective, high attention to detail, and a deep understanding of electronic music trends. My goal is not just to mix or produce a track, but to elevate it—whether it’s by improving groove, dynamics, energy, or overall impact. (Check out my "Jobs" playlist)

  37. Q: What's your typical work process?

  38. A: 1. Understanding the Vision – I start by discussing the client’s goals, inspirations, and sonic direction. 2. Production/Arrangement – I work on sound selection, structure, and key elements to bring the track to life. 3. Mixing & Sound Design – I refine details, enhance clarity, and ensure everything sits well in the mix. 4. Mastering & Final Touches – The last step is ensuring the track has industry-level loudness, dynamics, and clarity. 5. Client Feedback & Final Delivery – I always offer revisions to make sure the artist is 100% satisfied.

  39. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  40. A: I recently switched to a highly portable setup, allowing me to work in different studios while maintaining consistency in my sound. My core gear includes: - MacBook Pro M2 Pro - Sennheiser HD600 - Audio-Technica ATH-M50x - Antelope Audio Zen Go Synergy Core - Various soft synths, plugins, and custom sample packs (UAD, Plugin Alliance, FabFilter, SoundToys and more) My focus is always on having the best remote reference and the highest-quality audio converter possible, ensuring accuracy in every production.

  41. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  42. A: I draw inspiration from artists and producers who push the boundaries of electronic music, such as Fred Again.., Axwell, Nile Rodgers, Steve Angello, Chris Lake, San Pacho, Diplo, Kyle Watson and more. Their ability to blend emotions, energy, and unique sound design is something I admire and strive to incorporate into my own work.

  43. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  44. A: I primarily work on music production, co-production, mixing, mastering, and DJ sessions. Many clients come to me with an idea or a rough demo, and I help them turn it into a professional and polished track, ready for streaming platforms, clubs, and radio. Whether it’s enhancing sound design, structuring a track, or refining the final mix, I always ensure the best quality possible.
